PERCY

Dang, that Brielle girl was sorta Aphrodite-ish. But even Drew wasn't that bad. Brielle was so dang

mean to Annabeth, I immediately hated her. She acted as if Annabeth was a lowly nerd, who defied

the queen (her). But that wasn't even the worst part. One of her cronies, Zara, was sitting behind

me in English. Our teacher told us to get out a pen. I didn't realize it, but I took out Riptide, and it

turned into a sword. Annabeth was fine with it, because she had seen it enough times. But Zara

stared at it in horror. It looked as if she had seen it before, and it brought back bad memories.

After English ended, it was lunch. Zara came up to me, and squeaked, "Can I come over to your

house on Saturday? I need to ask you something..."

I figured she was gonna talk to me about the whole "pen-turning-into-a-sword" thing, so I said it

was fine.

Annabeth came over to me. "You're so stupid Kelp Brain! You let that mortal girl see Riptide?"

I interupted, "But she saw it, so that means she's probably a demigod."

"Or a mortal!!"

"Fine Annie. You win. But I'll talk to her on Saturday. She said she needs to talk to me...."

She looked like she was about to punch me, so I quickly apologized. " Fine! Fine! Not Annie,

Annabeth! Jeez!"

She looked triumphant.

~that saturday~

My mom yelled, "Percy! Someone from school is here!" My mom had came with me to California,

because she felt I was too young to go somewhere on my own. I was completely fine with it though.

I came out of my room, which had been cleaned of all the stuff that looked demigod-ish.

Zara stood in the doorway. "Hey Percy."

"Hey."

We stood awkwardly for a second, and then I finally said, "Uh, wanna talk in my room?"

"Err okay."

When we got to my bedroom, she let out a question, and it seemed as if she had been holding it

in. "Howdidyourpenturnintoasword?"

"Wait what?"

"Oh sorry. How did your pen turn into a sword?"

I thought for a second, and then I said, "You know all those myths about the Greek gods?"

She nodded, and said, "Like Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades-"

I cut her off. "Well they're real. And some of their weapons are real too. Like this sword of mine.

It's name is Riptide."

I found it weird that she didn't immediately say, "What? No that is not possible!"

Instead, she nodded and asked, "So are you a son of one of the Greek gods?"

"Yeah. Yeah, Poseidon, god of the sea."

"Cool..."

When I looked at her closer, I saw a striking resemblance to a dead friend.

I needed to get her to camp. "Are you free during Thanksgiving Break?"

"Uh yeah. My parents don't really care where I go, unless it's a super deadly place."

"It's not a super deadly place. It's a camp in Long Island. A camp called Camp Half-Blood."

She thought for a while. Then she answered. "I'm in."

A/N: I have some news about Zara. All I'm saying is that she's a reincarnated friend from one of the books. Do you like? :)
