Chapter thirteen: Feelings
Caspian's POV
I was with Elizabeth today riding through the woods, looking for any signs of trouble. It had been around a week since Elizabeth had been rescued from the men in the village. Things have calmed down lately. Not as much work for anyone, except the guards, to do. None of the villagers have been any trouble, just a few drunk men here and there. Elizabeth and Peter haven't been able to spend much time together because they've both been so busy. I didn't have anything to do today so I decided to join Elizabeth on her patrol.
"We should be nearing a lake soon. We'll stop there and let the horses take a break, after that we will find Reepicheep and get a report from him. We will make our way back later this evening." Elizabeth informed me.
"Sounds good to me. I must thank you for allowing me to accompany you today." I thanked her. She giggled slightly and looked up ahead.
"You need not thank me, I wanted the company, therefore, it is my pleasure." She told me. "Here we are." She announced. We dismounted and took the bridles off the horses so they could eat and drink freely. I sat on the grass, just out of the water's edge. Elizabeth sat down with her back against a nearby tree. She had a small dagger and a chunk if wood in her hands. It looked like she was carving something into it. As I watched her I couldn't help but notice how beautiful she is.
What am I thinking?! She is a very good friend, also one of your guards. She also is in a relationship with King Peter, besides, you have feelings for Susan. I thought to myself. But the way the sun shines on her, illuminating her face and giving her skin a soft glow. She is just so gorgeous. Anybody would think that, and if they didn't then they're blind. She has always been very nice to everyone. not once getting mad at anyone, or holding any grudges. It would be wonderful if I were the one to call her mine. Of course, she probably doesn't see me in that way. No, I know she doesn't see me that way. She loves Peter, not you. I just love her like a best friend, or a sister. Then again, I am the first person she danced with at the celebration. Probably only because Peter wasn't there first.
"Caspian, time to move on. We need to get going again." Elizabeth said, snapping me out of my thoughts in the process. We got our horses and put their bridles back on, then mounted up. We cantered off deeper into the forest. I suppose we were looking for Reepicheep but I don't know how she knows where to go to find him. It amazes me how she knows so much. I've lived here longer than she has, and I'm the king, but she seems to know so much more than I do. She knows more about the people's wants and needs, she knows some of the villagers and Narnians better than I do, she can navigate the land without even glancing at a map, she knows all the places to look when she needs to find someone. She is so good with the children, I just don't know how she does it! She came here only months ago and has memorized every detail of Narnia, and here I am, King of Narnia, and only know half as much as she knows. Peter really is a lucky man, to have found a girl such as Elizabeth. Although, his sister Susan is a lot like Elizabeth. They don't look alike but they both know more than me about Narnia. I must admit, I have always fancied her. Ever since I saw her in the forest I knew there was something special about her. I should take Susan on a date soon. I'll ask Elizabeth what I should do that she'd like.
"Elizabeth, if I were to take Queen Susan on a date, what do you think she'd like?" I asked her. She chuckled before answering.
"I think she would love if you took her out for a day. Maybe go on a ride and shop in the village. She'd also like if you took her to Cair Paraval. She's been wanting to go back there for quite some time." She told me. I guess I'll take Susan tomorrow.
Elizabeth's POV
Finally! I've been waiting for him to ask her out ever since they met! You could see it in his eyes that he fancies her. Kind of like how Peter and I look at each other. I wonder if Reepicheep has anyone special? I should ask him whenever we find him. Speaking of Reep,
"There you are Reep! I was beginning to think you wouldn't show up." I told him. I heard Caspian snicker beside me. Reepicheep just smiled and climbed onto Brego. He then sat on Brego, behind the saddle. I kicked Brego into a canter. "Any news?" I asked Reep.
"Just a couple squirrels arguing over nuts. Nothing unusual." He reported. I nodded my head in acknowledgement.
Another day of no troubles. Not that I'm complaining, I just like a little adrenaline rush every now and then. We should probably see about going to Cair Paraval tomorrow and make sure everything up there is fine. Maybe we could all go and have a little camp out.
"Hey Caspian, what do you say we all go to Cair Paraval tomorrow and spend the night there? it will be fun!" I asked him.
"I don't see why not? Let's go tell the others." He agreed. With that we made our way back to the castle.

We all ended up going. It took some persuasion but we left Gleamweather in charge while we're gone. We were currently on our way there, and expected to arrive in an hour or two. I was riding next to Peter, and Lucy was riding with me. She was sat behind me in the saddle. Everyone talked joyfully throughout the entire ride. Before I knew it, we were there. We set up some tents to give us shelter. It was getting dark, so we decided to Starr cooking some supper. After supper everyone went to sleep. Caspian and Ed shared a tent, Susan and Lucy shared another, while Peter and I shared the third, and last, one.
The next morning we all went onto the beach and messed around. I was wearing a traveling dress with brown leggings on underneath. At mid-day we all started the ride back. We decided to take our time and set up a camp tonight. Then tomorrow, we will finish the ride. We settled down. I went to bed before Peter. When he did go to bed he put his arm around me and I snuggled into hid chest. I then let the darkness of sleep consume me again.
