"Here you go, sir" one of the officers said before placing a huge stack of papers and folders on his desk and walking away.

It's gonna be a long night... best tell Stiles. And maybe call that new Chinese place down the street.

"Dad just texted me, he's back late tonight. I guess that gives us plenty of time to finish painting"

"If we're going to be painting most of the night can we at least order a pizza? I'll pay" Derek answered, raising an eyebrow slightly. The response was a huffed 'fine' and a chuckle.

"I'll put my phone on charge, you order the pizza" Stiles called out, already half way up the stairs.

-----

After two large pizzas had truly been feasted on and four walls had been fully painted, Derek had decided to call it a night.

"Thanks for the help, Derek. Nice to know I can count on someone when I need a hand" Stiles called to Derek, just before he climbed into his car.

"Yeah, sure. Anytime" Derek answered, and with the slam of his car door and the purr of its engine, he was gone.

Saying goodbye to anyone was never easy for Stiles. Especially since he had to go back to an empty house. As he sat back down he realised just how dark it was outside, maybe it was best to call it a night as well.

While he was walking to his room, he started to think about how just a couple of years ago, painting a room alone with Derek would have been impossible. They hated each other. Either Derek would threaten to rip Stiles' throat out with his teeth, or Stiles would be begging for death. Just to get away from him.

Stiles never really hated Derek, they just had a difficult time getting along with each other. But something had changed between them, and because of this life had become just that little bit more bearable. And, thanks to days such as that one, much more fun.
