Derek traced his steps back to the spot Stiles found the paw print, he couldn't help but feel it could be the first clue to figuring out what the creature was.
He walked towards the tree which casted a shadow over the print, how did Stiles even see this? Derek slowly and carefully removed all of the leaves from the print. Why were there so many leaves anyway? The print was clearly new. Meaning from last night, that amount of leaves couldn't have naturally fallen and covered it up.
Dread loomed over Derek again, this 'thing' was clearly smarter than just your average animal. It was trying to cover it's tracks.
Derek lightly trailed his fingers along the outline of the print, it was much bigger than a wolf's but the shape was similar. It was much larger than Derek's hand. After each indent where the toes would be were deep, long lines.
"Claws" Derek whispered to himself. He grabbed his phone and took a picture, Deaton could use it to figure out what it was. Derek stood, holding his phone in his hand. He felt the need to call Stiles, to check he was okay after what had happened earlier that day. It went straight to voicemail, clearly he didn't feel like talking.
"Hey, Stiles. I know you're angry at me and I don't blame you, but that thing is still out there somewhere. It's safer if we stick together. We're a pack" Derek hung up with a sigh, he'd really screwed things up.

Stiles pressed replay for the fifth time. He was meant to be angry, but he just couldn't stay that way listening to Derek's voice. He didn't even know what he was feeling anymore, but it was nice.
Stiles threw his phone on his bed, he didn't feel like talking to anyone. No matter what mood he was in. Stiles lay back on his bed and stared at the ceiling, he was starting to get a headache. He turned on his side and within seconds he was asleep.
