Derek watched as sunlight crept across his bedroom floor, flooding the room with colour. His eyes were sore and his head ached. Sleep was impossible since all he could see when he closed his eyes was a blazing gold, taunting him and depriving him of peace. He stretched as he climbed out of his bed and padded down the stairs to his kitchen. Derek decided against having breakfast and opted for a cup of coffee instead.

Derek walked back to his room, coffee in hand, in search of his phone. He'd wanted to see Stiles all night, probably because he thought he would never see him again. He sent him a text asking if he was busy and decided to have a shower and get changed while he waited for a response. Once he'd pulled his shirt over his head, he looked back down at his phone. Nothing. This gave Derek a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, leading him to the decision to go over to Stiles' house himself.

Stiles was about to shovel another spoonful of cereal into his mouth when there was a loud knock. With a frustrated sigh he put his spoon down and walked over to the front door to his house. He opened the door and was confronted by Derek.

"Hey..." Stiles said with a confused look "what are you doing here so early?"

"You didn't answer my text" Derek responded as he shoved past him lightly and made his way to the kitchen "I thought something was wrong"

"Nope" Stiles called back as he closed the door behind him "just left my phone upstairs" When he walked back into his kitchen, he saw Derek sitting at the table eating Stiles' cereal.

"Hey! That's mine!" he said, grabbing the bowl off of him and sitting back down in his seat.

"So," Stiles started, food still in his mouth "what's up?"

"Nothing, just wondering if you were busy today"

"Clearly. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I just couldn't miss it" Stiles answered sarcastically before shoving another spoonful in. Derek huffed a small laugh, shaking his head gently.

"What do you want to do today?" Derek asked, trying to ignore what Stiles had said.

"I was planning on going for a walk in the woods, you can tag along if you want" Derek hesitated, did he really want Stiles to put himself in potential danger without even knowing it? Or did he want to hide what happened last night from him in an attempt to prevent him from panicking?

"Sure" Derek said, deciding to go along with him. If the thing showed up again, he would try to protect him.

Or distract the beast so Stiles can run away.
