"Pony...do you ever miss your mom and dad?" I ask as we lay on the side of the hill, watching the sky turn brilliant shades of orange, pink, and the blue fade away. " 'Course I do.." He replied. Ponyboy was the only boy I knew that made my world feel that way. "I dunno...I mean I try to think about all the fun we had. The rides out to the country, the laughs, Mom's chocolate cake. Dad's jokes. Our moms joking around about us falling in love. Our dads encouraging it. That was fun huh?" He had tears in his eyes. "Awe. Ponyboy." I leaned on his shoulder and he put his arm around mine. "Ever wonder if our mommas were right?" He chuckled. "Yeah I do." I laughed. "This..us...we're golden." He looked me dead in the eye and smiled the softest, sweetest smile. I've been hurt before...I can't fall for that smile. "Nothing gold can stay.." I mumble looking away from his loving gaze. "Then I guess we're nothing." He barely whispered. Our foreheads touching. " I love Robert Frost, too." He smiled. "Ponyboy.." I whisper "Yeah?" He ask. "I really like you. I think Mom is right. We should just fall in love. I mean...we go so well together and you dig okay. Let's just..let's do it." I say, my words flying faster than lightning. "Fall? I dunno about you but I've already fallen. I've always loved you. Just never got the nerve to say nothing. I mean...will you be my girl?" He says looking at the ground. "Yes!! Oh Ponyboy yes!!!''
