"Like this?"
"No! You're doing it wrong."Tom rolled his black eyes and snapped his fingers again, making a soft sound. Tord snapped after him, but a loud sound came from his claws. He sighed.
"I'm never going to do this right!"
"Calm down. And don't do it with your shadow claws." Tord nodded and snapped his normal fingers, still making a loud snap.
"Softer."
"How?"
"Relax and focus your mind on the spell you wish to cast. Think of a fire burning though a forest, or a campfire."
"Alright...." Tord closed his eyes and thought about the crackling on a fire. He then snapped his fingers, making a soft click.
"Quick! Think of something!" Tom suddenly screamed and Tord opened his mouth to retort. Of course, he couldn't, thanks to a large flame coming out of the back of his throat. The force of the flame knocked him off balance and send him falling to he ground with a groan."Are you ok?!" Tom panicked and ran over to the eldritch, putting out an arm to help him up. Tord took it and was gently pulled to his feet.
"Yeah..." Tord coughed, sending out a puffy of smoke.
"Did that burn?"
"No. It felt like I ate a chili peppers, which I can handle." Tord replied, his voice cracking softly. He coughed again.
"Alright. Next time, don't open your mouth." Tom advised and Tord nodded.
"Want to try again?"
"Yeah!"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Calm down. Think of a fire." Tom reminded his friend and Tord closed his eyes again, keeping his lips sealed over his fangs. He snapped again, making a soft sound. Without a cue from Tom, Tord snapped his eyes open with a fiery glow and he shot out of his hands out, making flames spew out of his jacket sleeve. Tom stepped out of the line of fire before one his of wings got burnt and smiled.
"You did it!"
"I did?" Tord asked, the fire from his eyes fading. Tom nodded and ran up to Tord, hugging him. Tord blushed softly and hugged him back.
"Ey, thanks for teaching me. Think you could show me how to do a tornado of flames?"
"You mean a typhoon? Yeah. It's easy." Tom pulled back from the hug and backed away from Tord. "You just need to do the same snap and then spin before shooting your hand out." The angel explained, trying to demonstrate the actions for the eldritch. Tord nodded slowly.
"I wanna try!"
"Are you sure? This trick is pretty dangerous."
"Let's go do it by the lake then." Tord replied and grabbed Tom's hoodie sleeve before running down a path behind his house. After a few minutes of running, Tord stopped and showed Tom a small lake in the middle of the forest.
"Alright.... but it could hurt you, too." Tom explained and Tord shrugged.
"I've been hurt pretty bad before." Tord said and pulled off his red hoodie before pulling up his t-shirt sleeve. "See this?" He mentioned to a large cut in his right arm near his shoulder. "I got it from a hunter. He shot an arrow at me and it lodged into my arm. I had to pull it out with the help of my friend." Tord explained and pulled the sleeve down, putting his jacket back on.
"Are you sure?" The eldritch just nodded at the angel before telling him to step back. Tom obeyed and stepped back a few feet away from Tord. The eldritch closed his eyes, took a deep breath in, and pictured a fire tornado in his mind. He then snapped his fingers and opened his eyes up, spinning in a circle a few times before shooting his hand out. He flinched away from the sudden blast of fire in his right arm and buried himself in his hoodie. After a few seconds, he looked up to see a fire typhoon spinning around on the water before stopping.
He smiled widely and looked at Tom, who looked horrified. He was about to ask his friend why, until he followed his gaze and looked at his right arm. It was stuck out and was burnt like a piece of coal. He probably didn't notice until then because he couldn't exactly feel it.
"Huh.... well. We should head back and get this patched up, eh?" Tord asked his friend with a smile, not even caring that his arm was burnt.
