I only took one step out of the school building at the end of the day, and heard my name being called. " Catherine!" the voice called, "Catherine, Catherine!"

I sensed that the voice was coming from the left, and alertly turned my head in that direction. I saw Lexi sprinting towards me.

"Catherine!" she screeched to a stop right in front of me. She could barely breathe. I couldn't exactly read the expression on her face.

I grabbed onto my friends shoulders, as to calm her down. "What is it?" I asked curiously.

She paused, trying to catch her breath. "It's Ben," she said. I had forgotten about my conversation with Ben. I instantly jumped when she said the two words. I was curious on what Ben's decision was.

"He asked me on a date," she said, calmly as possible. I let out a little scream. Mission accomplished.

Then, I remembered that, a while back, Lexi had said that she woudn't go out with Ben if he had asked her with his friends around.

"Did you say 'yes'?" I asked. I was so anxious to know.

She hesitated, trying to build suspense. I couldn't stand it.

She rolled her eyes with a smile. "Of course, I said 'yes'," she said.

I shrieked, and I hugged my friend. She smiled, because I was acting like an idiot. I really couldn't believe that my plan had been a success.

I thought of something, then. "Would you like to come over to my house? My Spanish project group will be there.Including," I said, sneakily, "Ben."

She winced at the idea. I suppose she thought that it would be a bit strange. I understood.

"Did you boys bring the supplies?" I asked, "Again?" I didn't say it as enthusiastically as I had the last time. Both Ben and Julian nodded. They didn't seem very happy, either.

They copied their actions from the last time, and dumped the gizmos and gadgets onto the floor. I stared at each and every one in agony. But, if we could build a working transportation device, it would all be worth it.

The two boys instructed us on how to build it. This thing to that, and that thing to this. I had never faced anything so challenging. Just like I had planned, Janel and I tried working on it together.

About two hours later, we had completed the contraption. I was proud of our work, even though Ben and Julian did most of it.

All five of us observed the thing. We were able to turn it on and off, we could select our destination.

I really wanted to try it, although the group wouldn't let me without a reason. I thought hard and deep.

"How about," I finally said, "we test it out? See if it works?" The group nodded in unison. "I could do it," I said, smiling.

"Alright," Ben said, "let's test this thing out."
