CHAPTER 05
he's okayElsa burst through the metal kitchen doors, her gaze resting on the ground to see Jack kneeling beside a fainted Hiccup. He already had a wet napkin placed on Hiccup's forehead. Tooth rested her elbows on the counter, setting her hands to her temples as her eyes were hidden by her multi-colored bangs.
The platinum blonde felt more like a dumb blonde. She should have never let this happen. She should have just gone out and done the order for him. Why couldn't she have done it? She could probably make coffee.. no, she couldn't. She could barely make her morning dark roast without Hiccup's help. Well, shoulda, woulda, coulda.
She cleared her throats to announce her presence, if the slamming doors weren't enough. "Jack." She said slowly.
The pediatric psychologist looked up with a nervous smile, "Hey~ Elsa, right?""Good to know you finally got my name." Elsa cocked her eyebrows and let them fall down. The continuous mistakes of 'Ella', 'Emma' and finally 'Eliza' had gotten a bit annoying.
"I can explain." He hurriedly replied, but Elsa shook her head.
"No, no.. it's okay." She huffed, as the sudden sounds of thumping footsteps came trailing down the stairwell. Rapunzel and Merida quickly appeared through the doorway behind the counter. Rapunzel lightly gasped and scurried to Elsa's side."What hap-" She began to inquire, but Elsa had given her a look that made her quickly shut up and slightly nod. There was no talking about Hiccup's anxiety, and there was no reason for Punzie to act like she didn't know his blood had run cold when he had to speak to someone. "I'll bring him up," She announced and got down on the floor to hook her arms around Hiccup's right arm. Elsa thanked her in a quiet tone. She glanced over her shoulder, "Mer, could you help me?"
The redhead nodded, her eyebrows furrowed at the entire situation in general. She got down and grasped Hiccup's left arm. The two girls began to haul the twig-skinny guy over and up the stairwell to the apartments. Merida whispered once they passed Elsa, "Does this happen often here?" "Oh, no. It's pretty rare."
Elsa sighed once more, and Jack opened his mouth to speak as he picked up the damp napkin that had slipped off of Hiccup's forehead, and stood up. She shook her hands out in front of her, "I said there's no need. It's not your fault." She set her fingers to her temples, spun around and headed towards the stairs as well.
When she had strode through the doorway and reached the fifth step, that's when Jack scrambled up to her. "Elsa!" He quickly said, a firm tone to his voice. She looked over her shoulder, her tone on one note, "What is it?"
"He has anxiety, doesn't he? That's why I haven't seen him around?"Elsa turned and continued climbing the stairs with no reply, yet Jack still followed. "I can help him. I can talk to him," He insisted.
She sternly replied, biting back her tongue, "He doesn't need any help, he's on medication! He's okay, he's fine! I've been taking perfectly good care of him." She let go of the railing to wrap her arms around her waist."He's never going to be relieved of anything unless he talks to someone. Someone who knows about his condition or at least what this medication might be doing to him." Jack replied, taking a few more steps up until he was on the same step as Elsa. He set a hand on her shoulder.
She turned away from him, "He'd never let me set up an appointment with someone. So I don't see the point."
"You know this would be good for him. Anyway, if you just tell me when I could talk to him alone by chance then I'm sure I could talk to him on a typical basis." He responded as he removed his hand from her shoulder. Elsa finally looked back at him, then quickly stared at the floor.
