 Chris

The room was completely silent and the air was still. I hadn't moved a muscle since; my phone was still pressed to my ear. The ringing had been going on for ages and I was getting nervous. My mind was still reeling with theories and possibilities. Once Rebecca answered the phone, things might become clearer.

Uncle Marik watched me suspiciously before looking at Andre, who was still grappling in his hold. "You better hope she answers, y'kna," he whispered to Andre. "For your sake. She better answer."

"Fuck you," Andre muttered through gritted teeth, his nails digging into uncle Marik's arm.

Uncle kissed his teeth and knocked the gun into Andre's temple, causing him to lose consciousness and slump in his arms. "Likkle pussio," he grunted, stuffing the gun in his back pocket. After that he proceeded to drag him to the other side of the room, dumping him on the sofa.

I watched on, completely still and frozen. "You're nuts," I muttered.

"Just fucking call her. This is business."

I looked away from his menacing eyes, shocked that he could go this far for the sake of business. But then again, this was always uncle's lifestyle. After a few rings, Rebecca finally picked up.

"Chris? Hey, what's up?"

"Where are you?"

"With Kayden. Why?"

"Are you busy?"

"Errr, not really. What's going on? Are you alright? You sound a bit weird."

I shut my eyes and exhaled deeply. It was time to take the plunge. "Okay...I'm...I'm with Andre—"

"Huh?"

"I need you to come here."

She paused for a second and her voice became weak with confusion. "Wh...what do you...why are you with Andre? Where are you?"

"I'm not in London right now but I...I need...look, Rebecca, I need you to come here right now."

"I-Is...is everything okay? Is Andre alright? Put him on the phone."

Hearing the crack in her voice broke my heart. "I can't. You just need to listen to me. You need to come here quick."

"Chris...tell me he's fine. Just-just tell me he's alright."

I glanced over at Andre who looked like he was barely breathing. "...he's fine."

"Are you okay?"

"Just get here. By yourself."

"What?"

"Come alone."

"Why?"

"Stop asking questions. Just get here, alright? And don't tell anyone. Just...come."

"Okay."

"I'll send you the location. Get here when you can. Please."

"...okay."

I hung up and threw my phone down, seething with rage but hurt that I'd upset Rebecca like that. The fact that she was so concerned must mean that Andre had been gone for quite some time. Was uncle the cause of it?

"Well done."

I looked uncle dead in the eye. "You're fucked," I muttered. "You're finished after this. I hope you know that."
