Dead bodies were everywhere, and all of them in some form of decay. They were in groups and by themselves. Some sat in chairs while others lay on the floor. Suit cases, books, toys and empty cans of food littered the floor. There were babies clutching their mothers and couples holding hands. And they were all staring at us, at the door. The room seemed to once have been a secretary’s office with a desk in the middle of the room and cabinets in long rows. We all stared in shock for a second until the echoing groans from the floor below reminded us of our impending doom.
“Ok which way?” Josh asked, stepping over what once may have been a dog
“The stairs are on the other side of the office.” the kid muttered waving his hand in towards one of the many doors that lined the walls.
His eyes were fixed on a small corpse what was a little boy. The groans got louder. We all began gingerly stepping over the bodies as we made our way to the door.
“Oh my god.” our guide whispered.
I turned around and saw he was still staring at the little boy.
“Come on.” I said gesturing for him to follow us.
“Did you see that?” he asked pointing stupidly at the little boy.
“What are you talking about?” I asked as the rest of the group continued across the room.
Then I saw what he was pointing at. The little boy’s eyes opened.
“What the-“I began when suddenly the boy leapt up and dove straight into our guides stomach.
“AHHHHH!” he screamed trying to pull the boy out of him.
The boy bit deeper into him half his face disappearing into the guides abdomen. Blood poured on the floor as the guide screamed in agony. He fell to the floor with the boy still inside him, his entrails spilling out around the boys head. Suddenly the other bodies started shifting.
“Oh fuck.” I whispered.
The group was staring as the little boy tore at the guide with inhuman like speed.
“RUN!” I yelled as one near me rose up and lunged at me.
I dodged it, as its momentum carried it into a nearby filing cabinet. It turned its eyes suddenly turning a dark red color. I spun around and ran as the rest of the bodies began rising. We all reached the door our recently deceased guide had pointed at and filled in. I was the last one in, so as I went to close the door I saw something that chilled my blood. The zombies…… they were running towards us. I shut it as they all slammed into it, causing the frame to shutter.
“Ok.” I said looking down the hallway for stairs. “We have a new problem.” They all looked at me. “These mother fuckers can run.” I said pointing my thumb to the shaking door.
Almost as confirmation to my words one staggered out from a door far down the hallway where we now were and began sprinting at us. It covered the distance in a matter of seconds. Josh grabbed it and slammed it into the wall bringing his knife into its head all in one swift movement. We all stared at it.
“How-” one of the twins began, when its eyes flashed from a pale grey to a blood red.
We all leaned a bit closer to confirm that its eyes had just changed color. Then blood began dribbling out of its eye sockets and down its face like tears. Suddenly its eyes burst covering us with a gross cross between blood and slime. We all jumped back wiping the gook off our clothes. The banging on the door intensified.
“Shit the rest of them must have made it up here.” Josh said.
The door made a horrible cracking sound as the increased horde added to the pressure.
