You're still the one

Chapter 2: The Project

Asuna hadn't talked to Rin since their last encounter at the mall. She had seen him around school a few times but didn't get the chance to talk to him, since either girls or guys were always around him. It made her feel like she was just used and thrown away, She also felt angry, in the way that she didn't want to ever talk or see him again, but it made her sad in a way where she wanted him to notice her again and give her attention. These were frustrating feelings, that also confused her. Zen's teasing didn't help much. Zen was always reminding her of what had happened that day. In one of the classrooms the teacher had assigned a project that had to be done in pairs of two. Coincidentally Rin was in the class with her. Asuna prayed that she wouldn't be paired with him, but at the same time she was hoping that she would be. The teacher said "The next pair will be Jenny and Kyla." Zen raised her hand and said, "Miss! I would like to be assigned with someone else, since I'm always assigned with Asuna. I think it'd be a nice change." The teacher chuckled "I always forget the nicknames you kids give each other. Fine I'll assign 'Asuna' with 'Rin'.". Asuna's first instinct was to look at Rin who was casually sitting in the seats from behind with a smirk on his face. When he noticed her looking, he made direct eye contact with her and winked. She broke the eye contact with Rin to glare at Zen. Even though it was by mere coincidence the teacher paired Rin and Asuna together, Zen tried so hard to hold back her laughter as she couldn't believe how perfectly everything had worked out. After class Asuna began to pick her books up, and stuff them in her bag as fast as she could before Rin had the chance to talk with her. But in the rush of the moment she dropped her books on the ground. She felt like just leaving them there and coming back later but Zen brought her down to the ground to pick up the books and whispered, "What are you doing Asu?" Asuna whispered back, "Isn't it obvious!?I'm trying to leave before Rin comes over!" Right from behind her she felt a nibble on her ear. She went immediately red as she heard another whisper from a familiar voice saying, "Rin's already here." Asuna turned around and covered her ear. Rin laughed at her reaction, "Why are you trying to run away from me partner?" She avoided all eye contact with him as she was still having those confusing feelings of hate and like. Zen smiled and said "You know Rin, Asu doesn't live too far from school." Asuna looked at Zen with a face of distress as if trying to tell her not to invite Rin over without her permission. Zen ignored Asuna's facial expressions and said, "maybe you should go over to her house right now to discuss the project." Rin smiled, "I'd be more then happy to go over." Asuna felt distress. Her family was away on vacation for the week and she had stayed home because her grades weren't doing all that well, so she had to stay studying as her family was enjoying their time. She didn't want to be alone with Rin, so she faked a smile and asked Zen "W-wouldn't you like t-to come over too Zen?" Zen smiled back at Asuna and said, "Sorry Asu! I got things I need to do today." Asuna grabbed Zen's arm tightly and said, "I insist!" Zen pulled her arm away from Asuna and said "Nah you need to discuss the protect with your partner." Zen then got up and left with a wave to both Rin and Asuna. Rin laughed and said "I think I like your friend." Asuna rolled her eyes and said, "Yeah, you probably like her the way you like all girls." Rin picked up her books from the ground and placed them on her desk and said "I do like a lot of girls but, not as much as I like you~" Asuna merely rolled her eyes at him and angrily mumbled "Yeah that's why you talked to me the day after we had sex...." Rin looked at her angry pouty face and said "Is that why you were trying to get away from me?" Asuna blushed and said "I don't know what you're talking about..." Rin hugged her tightly and said "Can we discuss this at your house?~" Asuna struggled out of his grip and said "The only thing, I'll be discussing with you is this stupid project." Asuna started to walk away and Rin followed behind her. He kept being stopped by people along the way which began to really get on Asuna's nerves, as she continued waiting, until he stopped talking to continue walking home. She had hit her breaking point when she saw a new girl in the school come up to him. Her name was Lily, and she already had the attention of guys. But she seemed to put her main focus on Rin. As she saw Lily giggling with Rin and grabbing onto his arm she thought to herself (why am I waiting for him anyways!? He can just come over another day!) Asuna began to walk away angrily. Rin noticed her leaving and so he left the conversation he was having with Lily behind and ran after Asuna. He called out to her a few times but she ignored him. If there was anything to annoy and upset Rin it was being ignored. Whenever he did get ignored he tended to do things that would get him noticed. He grabbed Asuna's wrist and turned her around. Once he had her right in front of him he gently kissed her. Asuna froze in place. The whole kiss had happened so fast and without warning she didn't have time to react.
