Chapter 11: How Could I?

Rin turned over happily as he had a good idea and said, "Hey Asuna senpai, would you like to go on a date?"

Asuna woke up to see a sleepy Rin lying next to her, in bed. She gently caressed his cheek while, slowly getting closer to him and giving him a gentle kiss. Rin opened his eyes and whispered to Asuna, "I love you so much." Little did Asuna know, that was nothing but a dream.  She woke up, It was two days after Asuna and Rin had sex, to have closure about their feelings. She hadn't talked to him since then. Rin left her his phone number but, she didn't want to text him because she thought it would be very awkward. She began to recall the question Rin had asked her after they had sex, "Hey Asuna senpai, would you like to go on a date?" She blushed and brought her knees up to her chest hugging herself in bed. "Why did I reject him?" She told herself in a barely audible voice. She looked at the jacket on her desk. Rin had left it behind from the other day. She began to remember what happened after he asked the question. "D-date?! But w-won't your fangirls hate me..." Rin shook his head and said, "I don't care what they think. I want to take you out." Asuna blushed and turned her head away from Rin and said, "Just tell me what you feel for me. That's all I want know." Rin looked slightly disappointed and said, "The only way I'll tell you how I feel about you is, if you let me take you out on a date~" Asuna coldly and bluntly said, "It doesn't matter that much I guess. Do you mind getting dressed and leaving? I don't want my neighbors to see you here." Rin was shocked. Why the sudden change in attitude? Asuna got up from the bed and covered herself with a robe, "I'm going to take a shower. I hope you won't be here once I get out." Rin showed a pained looked on his face. He just realized his feelings for Asuna, just to get them rejected so quickly. He didn't even know why Asuna suddenly went so cold towards him. She didn't even look him in the eyes. Her gaze was only looking forward. Could it be that, Asuna didn't feel for him, the same way he did for her? He watched Asuna walk out of the room. He saw her hair flowing and her lightly marked pale skin. It hurt him to think, that could possibly be the last time, he saw her that way. For the first time ever Rin, felt a tightening feeling in his chest. He wanted to cry and hold her, but she didn't seem to want him. Rin was feeling his love rejected. Is this what the girls who had fallen for him felt, when he just moved on? In any case, Rin dressed himself and left a note behind for Asuna to find. He left his phone number visibly on her desk but, he expected Asuna to find the note, no matter how long it took for her to find it. He walked out of her house, he turned around to glance in hope maybe she would come out to follow him. But to his dismay, Asuna never came out. Two days had passed since the two last saw or talked to each other. Asuna was now alone on the bed. She could still faintly smell Rin's scent on her sheets. Asuna let go of her knees and got up. She reached for the jacket. When she pulled it off the desk, she noticed there was a small note, with a heart drawn on it saying 'open me'. Asuna was shocked to find it, the curiosity got to her and she opened it. She saw the hand writing and automatically knew it was Rin's. It said, "Dear Asuna senpai,
I know you probably don't feel for me the same way I feel for you. I mean even if I told you my feelings, you probably wouldn't believe me. You'd problem make me tell you the reasons why I love you but, the reasons to love you are too many to list anyways. I don't want this to ruin what we have. I don't want the conversations with you to end but, if that's what you want then I'll respect it and do as you tell me. Whenever you're ready to tell me what you feel for me, I'll be waiting for you, no matter how long it takes. - Rin" she couldn't believe what she was reading. Asuna began to cry. She felt like the worst person on earth. How could she have acted that way towards him? Tears began to roll down her cheeks. "W-why did I ever....why was I-I so stupid!?" She began to sniffle and hold the note tightly. She remembered exactly what she was thinking that night, to have rejected him. She was thinking, "this is just another one of his excuses to have sex with me again." or, "In a week he'd cheat on me anyways." She thought, "I don't want to be played by him! This is all probably not even sincere anyways. I don't know what to believe anymore!" These were all words she kept to herself though, instead of telling Rin. She wiped away her tears and held the jacket tightly. She felt cold at that moment. She wanted Rin to hug her and hold her the way he normally did. She knew there was only one thing to do.
Rin was at home when suddenly, he heard his phone buzz. It was a text from an unknown number. He read the text, that said, "Meet me at the park with the fountain in one hour" Rin knew it was Asuna and responded with "K".
