When I told Brian that I hadn't he immediately put one on. I let him choose who we would listen to, so we ended up listening to Jimi Hendrix. I had never listened to him before and it certainly was an experience. I wasn't entirely sure if I liked if I was honest because it was quite special. But I did see the point about vinyl, because it was different, better even. It was much clearer and I did like it a lot. I chose to tell Brian that instead of my opinion about Mr Hendrix.
"Alright, so we've covered music, and you said that films and the likes are not your strength either, so... how about books?"
"Books, yes, that I can do. But ... I like older books, so that wouldn't be anything new for you..."
"Fair enough. Then how about politics?" He suggested, smiling at me.
Immediately I groaned and shook my head. "Oh dear, politics. Let's just say the world is a mess and it's not getting better..."
"That doesn't sound very promising.."
I shook my head again. "No, not really. Actually it's kind of nice being here, knowing that ... that the world won't fall completely apart in the next forty years."
"It's that bad?" He asked, shifting a little on the couch.
"I don't think it's ever okay, but there are a few crazy people in power so that is kind of worrying. But let's talk about something more positive. How is it going with your band? Have you been booked a little more?" He had mentioned his band here and there but actually we haven't talked about them that much. I didn't even know what they were called, I just knew that they had an incredible guitarist - him.
"Oh... not so well, no. We haven't had a gig since the one in March, shortly after we started talking. But we're currently discussing the terms of a recording contract that we've been offered, so that is definitely a big step forward. It's not ideal, of course, but I'm pretty sure that if they accept our alterations we'll sign it..."
"Really?" I asked with a smile. He had mentioned the struggle the band was going through to that had to be some really good news. "That's wonderful. So you might have your own record soon?"
Brian nodded in confirmation to that, smiling a little. "Yes... yes, hopefully. I still can't believe it, but if I'm honest it's about time. And we're good, so they would be missing out, the world would be missing out, you know?"
"I don't doubt that," I said slightly amused. "It's a shame that you don't have a gig anytime soon because I'd love to hear you play live, in full force."
"If the opportunity comes up, I'll let you know," he promised, smiling at me.
"You know," I said, letting my eyes wander over him with a smile. "You never even told me what your band is called," I pointed out when that thought crossed my mind.
"Queen, we're called Queen," he told me.
Now. I was not good with music at all, but if there was one name that rang a bell it was definitely Queen. The band Queen, who didn't know them? They are the champions, after all. Excuse the really bad pun. My eyes widened and I looked him up and down. Was he really one of them? That couldn't be... that simply couldn't be.
"Why do you look so shocked?" He asked sceptically. "Have you heard of us?"
I couldn't tell him that, could I? No. I mean, I wasn't even sure if that was the same band, maybe there had been another band called Queen. If only I had my phone to google his name... the only name I could think of in connection with Queen was Freddie Mercury, and somehow a part of me was quite certain that there was a Brian May who was part of that band. And apparently that was my Brian May. And exactly that man was waiting for an answer of me. "No," I said surprisingly firmly. "I was just surprised by that name, it's unusual. Very... feminine, you know? I mean, are you the only man in that band?"
"No," Brian chuckled. "No, we're four men, but Freddie - our singer - came up with that and we ended up sticking with it..."
Freddie. Wait. Freddie?! The Freddie who had gone shopping with me earlier? Oh my god, of course. Suddenly everything made sense. I wasn't a huge fan of their band, but even if you weren't a fan of someone, if you found out that you had spent time with someone incredibly famous wouldn't you also freak out a little? "Freddie?" I asked, trying to sound as casual as possible. "You mean the one that helped me pick out all the clothes?"
Brian nodded with a smile. "The one and only, yes. I know he's a special character but I think that's why we're friends."
I smiled at him, trying to wrap my head around what I had heard. It made the entire thing even harder to comprehend. I mean, I didn't just travel into the past somehow - as if that wasn't enough - I was now sitting on the couch of someone who was going to be a world famous rockstar. I had been shopping with a rockstar, not just one actually. I needed to find Brian's phone, I needed to talk to Josephine. I needed my best friend.

Yes, Brian was my friend, but first of all he was a man and then he was the one I wanted to talk about so I could hardly gossip with him.
"Brian, can we keep looking for your phone?" I asked quite suddenly. I needed to find a way to let Josephine know what happened.
