"Come on, let's just go somewhere else," you suggested sullenly. "I'd rather not cry in front of everyone."
Peggy suddenly took you by your shoulders and stared straight into your eyes. "You're not giving up. I will not let you. You go and catch up to him. Right now," she commanded you. She turned your body toward the doors of the Great Hall and gave you a little shove. "Now."
Tears were falling sporadically from your eyes, but you were too stunned to argue against the formidable young woman. You stood still with your back toward your friends, your mind completely blank.
Hands were on your shoulders again, and you turned your head to see that they were Peggy's. She was smiling patiently, willing to help you do what you needed to do. "Let me rephrase that nicely--don't let him slip away from you again. Never again. Don't let him think that you hate him. Let him know how you actually feel. Now," she said, rolling your shoulders back and pushing you forward softly, "go."
Before you exited, you turned to give your friend a hug in thanks for giving you the courage you needed.
"We're cheering for you from the safety of our breakfasts," Steve "encouraged" you as you and his girlfriend released each other.
"Steven Rogers!" Peggy exclaimed, punching his arm softly. "Not funny!"
"Yeah, gosh, Steve, not funny at all!" Bucky agreed teasingly, a grin on his face. "Except that it's very funny, and very accurate, too."
"James Barnes!" Peggy turned on him, giving him a much more forceful hit to the arm.
"Ow!" Bucky cried out, rubbing his arm. "Guess you could say that you really pegged me, there," he chuckled. Steve snorted at the bad joke, and you tried to refrain from giggling as you looked at the murderous glare on Peggy's face. She just responded with another blow to Bucky's arm. "Ow! Stop!" the boy pleaded. "You have no appreciation for the fine art of pun-making, I see."
"I have appreciation for the good ones," she seethed.
"Peg, that was a pretty good one," Steve offered his opinion. The girl shifted her glare to rest on her boyfriend, who shrank back to hide behind Bucky. "Or maybe it wasn't."
"I'm just gonna go now," you muttered. "Have fun with the boys, Peg. Don't rough 'em up too bad."
"No, (Y/N), stay and protect us," Bucky begged. "But also go confess your feelings to your true love. Just come back quickly, yes?"
"Will do," you nodded. Then, you set off briskly to find the now infamous Hufflepuff.
Merlin, that boy was fast. He wasn't in any of the places that you thought he'd be. You must have checked all over the castle for him, but he seemed to have disappeared. All you could do was hope that he wasn't actively avoiding you or that he hadn't hidden himself in his dormitory. If Newt didn't want you to find him, then you wouldn't.
Sunlight suddenly broke through the clouds and stabbed your eyes through the large window next to you. An idea came to you as you raised your hand to properly shield your eyes, and it was so obvious that you chastised yourself for not thinking of it earlier.
Newt had to be outside. It was the most logical place that he would be. If he wasn't outside, you didn't know what you would do. Maybe ask Bucky or Steve to check their dormitory?
