Jesse had been calling me all day, knocking on the door of my apartment. The only reason I had answered him once was to throw a box of his belongings at him, knocking him down onto the floor. "(Y/n), please, let me make things right!" He begged, on his knees and yelping as I slammed the door, hitting his nose as it swung shut.

He left me alone for a few days after that, and had the damn audacity to knock on the door, mumbling "hey... do... do you still have that engagement ring?". I scoffed as I head him, rolling my eyes as I opened up the door. "No. I accidentally left it back in Haddonfield." I lied, frowning as he sighed in frustration.

I knew Jesse would want the ring back. He'd always been a money hog. "Here's the address. Go get it yourself." I snapped, throwing a crumpled piece of paper with the address to Michael's house on it before slamming the door closed once again. I could hear his hesitation to leave, but the footsteps walking away soon showed he had changed his mind about staying.

~

I knew as soon as the news popped up that Jesse had attempted to find the ring back in Haddonfield. His pictures appeared across the screen, and I could feel my heart practically break when I saw the happy engagement photos we had taken. I had trusted him with my heart, and he broke it... I shouldn't feel any remorse for tricking him into heading to his last destination, but damn, I thought I was going to cry then.

It didn't help that people asked if I was okay, even though I had told them that Jesse had cheated on me. Tawny helped chase them off, at least, and I've never seen Jonathan angry before. He was about eight at this time, and was able to grasp easily what happened with Jesse.

"I thought getting engaged meant you couldn't like anyone else!" He exclaimed with pure anger in his voice, sitting crossed-armed on the sofa. "I did, too..." I sighed, sitting down next to him. "I think I'm gonna go to Haddonfield and see what happened." I murmured, earning a surprisingly agreeing nod from Jonathan.

"I listen in to you and mama when you talk about Haddonfield...about Michael..." Jonathan muttered admittedly, hanging his head slightly as he spoke. I looked to him in utter shock, my mouth opening slightly before he continued speaking. "I know what he does... about your relationship with him." He mumbled, making me sigh slightly.

"It's okay... I'm just gonna be there for a few days... I'll be alright." I murmured, making up my mind then and there that I was for sure going back to Haddonfield at least one last time... yeah, I'll most likely regret it, but when has that stopped me in the past?

~

"I think this is a really bad idea. Don't you remember last time?" Tawny warned nervously, causing me to sigh as I took my bags out of the back of her car. "I'll be fine." I promised, not giving her a chance to reply as I closed the door and hurried in through the airport doors and almost missing my flight.

Dylan had picked me up from the plane, bringing me back to his place. He knew not to bring up Jesse, so we just caught up and relaxed as we drove back in the dark of night. Apparently his boyfriend had left for the marines, so it would just be Dylan and I in the house. Just knowing that Michael knew Dylan knew me was frightening.

I groaned tiredly as I walked into the house, dragging my bags behind me as Dylan led me to the guest room to sleep in. "Sleep tight, boo. Wake me up if ya need anything." Dylan offered, grinning happily as I hugged him tight before he walked out.

I smiled to myself as I changed in to my pajamas, stretching out on the soft bed and sighing in relief that I no longer had to move around. I looked out the window, yawning as the clear night sky twinkled with stars and lit up the earth with the moon's soft light. I was so tired that I had fallen asleep without seeing the familiar masked guy staring silently into my window.

~

I woke up late the next morning to gently tapping on my window. The sky was dark and gloomy, and soft thunder rolled quietly in the sky as the rain poured down. I loved the gloomy weather, so I was pleased to see this view. I sat up and yawned, the yawn up swinging to a soft shriek as Dylan came in unexpectedly. "Yo, (y/n)... your ex is at the door." He murmured softly, making me immediately wake up more and stiffen.

I stayed silent for a few moments, gathering my thoughts before speaking. "Tell him to go back to his place... I'll meet him there in ten." I replied, sighing softly to myself once Dylan nodded and headed out of the room to tell him.

I sat there for a moment, sitting in the painful silence before finally getting up, simply pulling on leggings and a beanie and not caring about the grungy t-shirt I slept in.

I passed Dylan in the kitchen, and gave me a soft, encouraging smile. "Good luck, girlie. Text me if you need any back up, okay?" He said softly, making me smile and nod. "I will. Thanks, mom." I teased, waving him off as I walked to the front door and headed out.

~

His front step was simple, yet made me start to feel nervous as I slowly walked up the steps and to the front door. My knuckles hesitated by my shoulder, not yet making contact with the wood door looking in front of me. Finally, I shook my head and knocked, taking a deep breath as I heard slow, heavy steps approach.

There was dead silence as he opened the door, both of us holding eye contact with one another. Even though it is one of the most cheesy feeling you can have, time seemed to slow down. The rain sounded as if it had silenced itself, though it was pouring loudly against the overhang. My heart was pounding against my rib cage, as if it wanted to break free from its restraints.

'(Y/n)...' Michael breathed softly. Damn I missed that voice. The deep, soft sound his voice made, the slight scratchy tone mixed in made my past feeling for him flare up once more. I gave a small smile, looking up to him with a slight shrug. "In the flesh." I murmured, taken slightly by surprise as he cleared his throats and stepped back, giving me space. His body language read so clearly he wanted to pull me in, to hug me tight, to take back what he had taken so long ago.

~

'I'm guessing you're back in Haddonfield to ask about Jesse.' Michael mumbled, finally breaking contact as he looked down at the ground and rubbed his neck. There was obvious guilt in his voice as he asked, which made me aware of his knowledge on the situation.

"I sent him. I came home early, and caught him cheating on me... I said my ring was here, knowing you knew who Jesse was... I tricked him into going here to die. I was pissed, and honestly, the only thing I really thought about was you..." I replied, almost snorting in amusement as Michael's head flew up, looking at me in utter shock.

"I didn't know he did that... he came to the house asking about an engagement ring... I recognized him and slashed the living hell out of him... he was the one that kept you away from me." Michael added, his voiced softening as he spoke. I couldn't help but smile slightly, giving a slight nod before backing up.

"I just wanted to hear the story from your side." I murmured, looking to him curiously as he held out a hand to show me to wait as his other hand dug in his pocket. He soon pulled out a crumpled piece of paper, unfolding it and revealing that it had been a 'get anything you want' card from our Christmas together long ago.

"This is my second to last one... can I use this to give myself another chance at us?" Michael mumbled in a nervous tone, holding the card out to me in trade. I hesitated a moment, then gave a slight smile."No catch, no rules. There can't be catches in a Christmas gift." I quoted myself from when I first gave him the cards. He grinned like an idiot, letting the card fall to the ground as he hugged me tight, lifting me off the ground and spinning enthusiastically.
