-6 YEARS LATER-

Brantley's Pov

I was sitting outside on this nice Summer day here at our home. Today is going to be a big day for my family and I. All of my kids will be home again. The first time in a year I've had all of my kids home all at once. After Blake and Froggie finished high school, they and a few of there friends went back packing across Europe for 3 weeks before they went off into the world.

Blake went off to the Army for the next 5 years of his life. Him and Kate ended things off in good terms with each other. Every time Blake would come home on leave, she would be there waiting on him to come back. Now Blake is moving back home and working with his uncle Kolby at the factory. He lives alone, but he is happy. And has a father, has long as he is happy then I'm happy for him. He might still be single, but he's young still.

Froggie went to college at Georgia State. He never wanted to leave home that much so he moved into a small apartment and was home every weekend. Mostly to eat a few good home made meals and have someone do is laundry. But he is happy and working in Pittsfield as a welder. He finally got himself a good girlfriend and like I told him one day it might be Macy. The small girl from our church. Well, John and Macy have been dating for 3 years now and they both are happy.

Ned is now 12 years old and just like any other 12 year old boys, he likes cars, playing video games, and his friends. Ned is still shy around girls, witch makes me happy. But other then that he is a great kid. Get's all 'A s' and 'Bs' in school. He has a few great friends and he is happy. I've only had a few man to man talks with him, but he still has a lot to know about women. He makes me smile every day when I see him.

Ms. Savannah is now 7 years old and I see a lot of Ava in her. She is always trying to make friends in school and being the best sister to her brothers as she can. Every time I look at her, I know one day I'm going to have to let her go away with some other man. Until that day comes, I'll have my gun out and just waiting on the boy she brings home.

The youngest Gilbert child is our little Arlo. He's 6 years old now and wants to be around me or one of his big brothers all the time. It's funny when you look at Ms. Savannah you see Ava in her, but in Arlo you see me. He is just a happy kid and wants to play outside a lot and get dirty.

All of my kids are the best thing that I've ever happened to me, next to meeting Ava and giving me that big family. I looked down at my watch and saw it was already going on noon. I got up and walked inside the house. Blake and John got here some time late last night, so I hope they are up and ready for today. I walked into the kitchen and saw my brother, Kolby and my best friend Adam having there coffee. I walked over so I can get me a cup as well.

"Everyone still sleeping?" I asked one of them.

"Yes." They both said to me. I smiled at them. When I lost Ava, I was so lost. I'm not going to lie about it. But if it wasn't for them helping me with the kids, I didn't know what I would have done. I owe them a lot for that.

"Well, I'm going to see if Froggie and Blake are up." I said to them. I walked up the steps from the kitchen. I was passing pictures of the kids and I. Some pictures of Ava and them. After I lost Ava, I wanted the kids to remember her, so I made pictures and I put them all over the house. I still have a few picture that are for my eyes only, but that's life.
