[OLD] Wolves in the Stars

Chapter 5- Taking Flight

When the sun rose and the Wolves of the pack started to wake up the exhausted Firefly returned to the dens of the group of young wolves after spending the night on patrol around the territory border, hence why she wasn't present during the hunt.

The others were just waking up.

Fi laid down to rest. She looked around and tried to find Corro, but he wasn't there

"Where's that white wolf?" She asked puzzled

"Corro?" Desert asked while he yawned

"He's right her-" Cloud began to say as he looked around for Corro, but stopped mid sentence when he realised he wasn't there.

"You lost him?! The ALPHA WILL KILL ME!!" She yelled panicked

"Why?" Tonka yawned

"He put me in charge of keeping an eye on him!" She said pulling herself to her feet

"Then why did you go on patrol?" Hawk asked as she stretched

"Cause it was an order, plus the Beta was there to watch you all" She answered still flustered. "We have to find him now!"

Corro continued to lay unconscious in the middle of the forest far away from the dens in the center of Knight's territory

Above him circled a beautiful flying wolf with sky blue fur and a pair of magnificent sapphire blue feathered wings that had a wingspan of 3 meters each wing. Her feathers and fur glistened like crystal in the sun's light. the Blue wolf circled Corro in the air for some time before landing on the ground in front of him and inspected him, folding her wings to rest on her back.

She spoke to a spirit. Although no one but her could hear the spirit's reply as it was only communicating with her

"Is this the light wolf? She asked "...Okay"

And with that she outstretched her gorgeous wings and lifted the young wolf onto her back gently. She was strong and had no issue carrying Corro. As she took off Eagle, Fi and Hawk had run up and seen it all and watched her fly away carrying Corro.

"Hey wait!!" Firefly yelled out to the blue wolf, but she didn't hear her

"CORRO!" Eagle Cried out!

The Blue wolf ascended amongst the clouds and disappeared from sight

With Corro along with her.

A few hours later when It was night time the Winged wolf had landed in a small cave on a mountain side overlooking a beautiful lake that mirrored the cloudy but starry sky.

She had put Corro down inside the cave as he was still unconscious. She had also set up a campfire inside the cave so there was some warmth and a warm fiery glow coming from the cave

Corro finally woke up to the sight of the Blue wolf cleaning her feathered wings much like a bird did, taking out the old dead feathers so the new ones could grow stronger. Below her wings was a pile of dull blue feathers. As soon as he saw her he jumped to his feet and growled ferociously at her.

"Who are you?! Where am I?! How'd I get here?! What are you?!" He cried out.

She wasn't threatened or fazed at the rude awakening of Corro, she continued to calmly clean her feathers.

"Calm down. I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm the messenger the spirits told you about. I'm Aura."

Corro immediately recognised that name & stopped growling.

"Aura? Wait.. you're that Gifted wolf from Knight's pack?"

"Yep. And you are?"

"Corro"

"well Corro, sorry I had to take you so suddenly but it was getting dangerous for you to stay there. Smoke Beasts are spreading everywhere and if they had found you, you'd be torn to shreds"

'That explains that giant shadow thing' He thought

" Besides, i'm taking you to a special place where wolves like us learn to control out abilities"

"Why didn't you let me say goodbye?"

"You can return when your powers are tamed and are stronger. Right now we need to focus on keeping you alive"

Corro warmed himself up by the fire while Aura finished cleaning her wings

"What even are you? How do you have those wings?" Corro asked her

"They were a gift. As I grew up these wings slowly grew and now they're strong and large enough to carry me and you over long distances. I'd be nothing without them"

"You make it sound like they're their own entity"

"they are to me, they're apart of me, they carry me above the clouds and through the sky. They've never let me down, not even once"

Corro smiled

"That must nice.. to have something to rely on.." He said looking to the side, his smile flipping upside down.

"Crappy parents?"

"The absolute worst"

Aura walked up to him and hugged him

"They told me.. I'm sorry. But they're gone now, your safe and you have your entire life ahaead of you. So put it behind you and live your life"

Corro got a shocked expression when Aura hugged him, no one had ever hugged him before.

It was a nice feeling

She let go and walked to the entrance of the cave and stretched out her wings

"ready to get going again?" She asked looking back at Corro

he walked up next to her, ducking under her wing.

"I guess I-" Before he could finish he was lifted onto Aura's back once again and she took off into the sky like a rocket

Corro cried out in fear. They were going extremely fast, not s fast as him in light mode but still fast none the less.

"Just hold on and don't fall off." She laughed

Corro held on as tight as he could and managed to pry open his eyes to see the amazing sight of the land that they were flying over. Wonder instantly took over fear. Thousands of deep green trees, snowy mountains and crystal blue lakes. The cool wind gently blew past Corro's face, ruffled his fur and whistled in his ears. The clouds they flew through felt like soft grass brushing against his face, making him sneeze when some cloud went in his nose.

Aura giggled " Having fun?" she asked amused

Corro couldn't find the words to describe how he was feeling, amazement, admiration, exhilaration, adoration, wonder and probably a million more words didn't even come close to describing the feeling accurately. Although he couldn't speak, Aura could tell his answer by the look on his face

" Hehe, well you can enjoy it for a little while longer. We still have a fair distance to go"
