[OLD] Wolves in the Stars

Chapter 8- Memory

Some time later Ombra and Corro headed up the steep rocks, through rock tunnels and across the Cliff side towards a huge cavern within the side of the mountain. Ombra had a little trouble climbing on the Cliff side. It required the utmost care with the placement of paws when walking across the edge, one false step could lead to someone falling off the edge. Ombra had a few close calls. Corro on the other hand didn't seem to have much issue. He felt confident despite never being to the mountains before.

"S-so your mate is a bird?" Corro said nervously

"No." Ombra replied focusing on walking without falling off the edge "Not entirely anyways."

"then how is she able to turn into a bird? I didn't know the Spirits were that powerful" Corro replied

"They work in very weird ways. She's not a bird, she just looks like one. At least that's what I think. Her power is the 'Flight of a Bird'. So I guess she just takes on the appearance or illusion of a bird whenever she flies."

"That... doesn't make sense"

" Does any of our abilities make sense?"

"Good point"

The two finally crossed the Cliff side and made it into the entrance of the cavern. It was huge inside! Stretching out long into the mountain. But the back of the cave was still visible from the entrance. Sparkly dots of crystal shards lodged in the walls gave off faint glimmers of light in many different colors; emeralds, sapphires, rubies, quarts, amethysts.

there was a waterfall falling through a opening in the ceiling at the back of the cave and collecting in a huge bowl like pool. There were a few wolves sitting or standing inside the cave talking to each other or keeping to themselves. Near the pool stood two wolves that stood out among the rest. One was sleek and tall with maroon red fur with a large black patch covering the top half of her body her tail was long and flowing, like a dress.

The other wolf looked like a large Husky, his underbelly being white with multiple shades of grey and brown all his body. His tail was short though, a little below half a meter. he had multiple bit and claw scars all over his body,ranging from only a a few centimetres to a meter in length.

Ombra led Corro towards the pair with silence. When they reached the two, the pair turned and nodded in acknowledgement at Ombra.

Corro looked very nervous and held his tail between his legs in the presence of the two strong wolves.

"Thank you, Ombra. You may leave now" Said the female with a elegant voice

Ombra nodded in acknowledgement and turned and exited the cave.

The pair looked at Corro and inspected him. The big male circled around him curiously and made himself familiar with Corro's unique scent and appearance.

Corro was shaking nervously, he hadn't been this intimidated by any wolf this much since he was with his parents. And that memory made him even more afraid and anxious and made him tremble.

"Be still. We're not going to cause you harm" Said the female calmly and softly, like a mother speaking to it's frightened pup. "My name is Ina"

"Strong, solid build, healthy, sleek and admittedly very handsome. You'd make a brilliant hunter, both a Runner and an Attacker" Commented the Male about Corro's appearance.

Corro stepped back a few steps.

"Enki. You're frightening him!" Ina said slightly annoyed at her mate.

"apologies young wolf. I just wanted to take note of the new addition to our group" Enki apologized
