   "Hey Fangirl."

   "Hi Nathan."

Emma said in an annoyed tone. Even though she wasn't annoyed at all. They sat in their chairs ready to start seventh period. Orchestra. Though the bell already rung to start class, the class itself wouldn't start till about 30 minutes later.

"I bet you one kiss that you can't convince me to like Yuri Plisetsky."

She rolled her eyes.

"And why would I want to kiss you?"

"I don't know. But it doesn't matter, I'm gonna win the bet."

Emma placed her hands on her hips.

"Oh? You sure bout that bud?"

"Yes. Now my kiss-"

She cut Nathan off, shaking her head.

"Anyways. So Nathan, how far are you with Haikyū!! Do you like it? Do you ship any-"

She was cut off mid-sentence.

"Attention. This is not a drill. Commence Lockdown sequence. Please lock all doors and shut all windows. I repeat. This is not a drill. Commence Lockdown."

Emma and Nathan glanced at each other. Fear glimmered from both their eyes. They both held hands absentmindedly and ran to the corner of the MPR. Emma began to cry quietly. Nathan wiped her tears.

"Hey. Hey. Hey. It's gonna be ok."

He continued to hold her hand as they both sat there in terror. He stroked her thumb gently in a comforting way. Suddenly a large sound echoed through the room. Emma and Nathan hugged each other protectively. A gunshot.

"OKAY. EVERYONE STAND UP AND BARRICADE THE DOORS AND PUSH AGAINST IT! HURRY!"

The teacher yelled. Everyone scattered to barricade the doors. Emma and Nathan stood against the front door, hands still linked. They both looked at each other. Tears streaming down each of their cheeks.

"I won't leave you. We stick together no matter what."

   "Deal. Deal. Deal."

Emma's voice was shaky. The door shook, the shooter was trying to get in.

"Oh my god... Oh my god... OH MY GOD. WE'RE GONNA DIE. PLEASE NOT TODAY."

Nathan cupped Emma's face in his hands.

"No. You're not gonna die today. Not on my watch. You hear me?"

   "Mhm..."

He kissed her forehead, both continuing to push against the doors. Some of the barricade started falling apart. Emma ran and tried to fix it. Just then the barricade fell in, on top of her.

"CRAP. EMMA. EMMA."

Nathan ran to keep the door as shut as he could.

"EMMA!"

A small part of the toppled chairs, backpacks, stands, and instruments moved. Emma climbed out.

"COME ON LETS GO!"

Emma grabbed Nathans's hand and they both ran to the other door. Gunshots and screams were heard. They both clawed down the barricade and ran outside. More gunshots. Emma screamed in pain.
