Emma sat in her class quietly. All she wanted was for it to end. She was tired. Tired of life. Tired of everything. Her friend came up to her.
"Hey? You ok? You seem sad.."
"Yeah. I'm fine. Don't worry about me."
Emma smiled reassuringly.
"Ok. Can't walk home with you today. Hanging out with some friends. Sorry!!"
She turned and walked back to her desk. 'It's funny how easily people believe that you're ok.' She thought. She walked up to her teacher.
"May I use the restroom?"
"Yes, you may."
She walked out of the classroom to the bathroom. She checked the stalls. Nobody was there. She walked in one of the stalls and sat down. She locked the door. Tears spilled out. It was more of a natural thing at this point. Like a routine. Always ends up crying, with nobody to comfort her. Soon, It was almost the end of class. 'Ok. Suck it up.' She wiped her tears and walked out of the bathroom. She grabbed her backpack and walked out. She passed by her friend. Laughing without her. 'And she says she has no friends...' She thought. Emma walked past, trying to ignore the fact that her friend. Best friend... Was definitely better off without her. She tried to say hey, but her friend completely ignored her. She sighed and swallowed back some tears. Emma walked away from the group to her apartment. She opened her apartment door. Dropped her backpack on the floor. Ran to her room and collapsed onto her bed. She stared at the ceiling. Heartbroken. Yet no tears. She was broken enough. She laid there. She grabbed her phone from her nightstand. She wanted to call someone, but everyone was busy with their friends. 'Nobody cares enough to hang out with me. That's why all my friends hang out without me..' She curled in a ball on her side, her emotions completely taking over. Emma closed her eyes, and tried to sleep away all the pain and sadness.
Her phone buzzed with an alarm. School again. Her pillow was damp. 'Cried myself to sleep again...' She thought. She sat up and stared at her phone. 'Why do I do that.. It just makes me feel worse because I think and tell myself that people are gonna care about me when they never will.' She said in her mind. She stood up and went to go eat some food. She got dressed, grabbed her stuff, and walked outside. She sighed. Not wanting to go through another day. Emma walked into first period. She went to her seat and turned to her friend.
"Hey.. Di-"
She gave her a quick meaningless hug, cutting her off mid-sentence.
"Yeah hi."
She pushed Emma away and went to her friends across the room. She watched as they hugged and laughed. Emma turned away from them. She decided to turn of all her emotions, and just shut down. She sat and waited for lunch. The bell rang soon enough. She went down to lunch. She walked to where her friends sat. Or at least, what she thought of as friends. She sat away from them, but still near enough for it to look like she wasn't alone. After enough time, her friends noticed that she was sitting away from them. Looking sad.
"Hey, you can hang out with us you know.. Instead of sitting there... alone."
Emma looked up.
"What's the point, it's not like your gonna talk to me. You're just gonna ignore me."
Her friend crossed her arms.
