Orchestra. Again. The usual. Things have been awkward between the two. He's been hanging out with Katie. Way more than he used to. He seemed to not remember what she did. Emma shifted nervously.

   "Hey... Um.. Nathan-"

He turned.

   "Uh... hey..."

They both stared at their feet.

   "So um-"

She was cut off.

   "Hey! Nathan! How are you?"

"Katie! Hey! I'm doing great how are you?"

"I'm doing wonderful thanks for asking! So.. have you been working on any new art lately?"

"Oh yeah!"

"Cool! Can I see?"

They both turned away from Emma. Ignoring her completely. Katie turned around and smiled and winked. Emma wiped a tear. She took out her earbuds and started to play music. She felt someone come up behind her and give her a hug.

"Hey? You ok?"

She took out her earbuds and turned. It was Alana.

"Yeah! I'm fine. Why?"

"I don't know. You just seemed sad."

"Awe. Thanks for caring. But don't worry, I'm ok."

She gave her a hug, and stroked her head.

"Ok. That's good. I'll be back in a bit."

She left to go get set up for orchestra. As she watched her walk away, Emma burst into tears. Of course. Nobody bothered to notice. Not even Nathan. Everyone was preoccupied with their own things. She stared at her wrists. The image of blood flickered on it. Then disappeared. She sighed. Soon enough the period ended.

"Hey Emma?"

She turned. Nathan.

"Hey..."

"I was wondering if... um..."

Katie slipped in and grabbed his arm.

"Come on Nathan. We have to go home!"

"Katie wait-"

"There's no time! Carpools already here!"

"No but-"

"Nope!"

She pulled him out the door. Emma slung her backpack over her shoulder. Heartbroken yet again. But it was normal to her. She walked out the door to her house. Alone. Her friends decided to ditch her. Again. She opened the door to her apartment. She put her backpack onto the floor and sat on the couch. Her face was expressionless. Her phone buzzed. She didn't bother to check. Probably her friends in a group chat, forgetting about her as usual. It buzzed again. She didn't budge. It started ringing. She picked up her phone. It was Nathan. She looked at her phone. Her hand hovered over. She debated wether or not to click accept or decline. She took a deep breath in and pressed answer. She put on her best happy voice.

   "Hello?"

"Emma! Hey... Look... I'm sorry about Katie. I don't know what's gotten into her. She's never acted like that before."
