After breakfast, Benjamin, Mia and I met in one of Qimengdian's many beautiful gardens to help each other choose which two elective subjects we should take for our first year at Qimengdian. Unlike the other twelve clans of Qimengdian, we students from Clan Mahlau are free to choose two elective subjects instead of just one. Why? It's because Clan Mahlau does not require its students to take a clan compulsory subject in addition to an elective subject. Joining us in our discussion was a friend of Mia's, a dark-skinned elven girl with prominent Eurasian features named Amber, who was from Clan Luhng.
Benjamin, Mia and I finally decided on which two electives we were going to take after spending an entire morning discussing it. I decided to take history and introduction to archaeology as my two electives. Benjamin decided he was going to take geometry and crafting as his two electives, and Mia decided she was going to take zoology and literature as her two electives. At first, I was slightly disappointed that Benjamin, Mia and I were not going to have any electives in common. But after some thought, I realised that my disappointment was silly. Most silly indeed. I mean, we're already in the same clan. To add to that, we're already classmates for the five core subjects in which all Qimengdian students have to take regardless of clan.
