I made an utter fool of myself during potions class today. Instead of adding a pinch of Star Moss into the simple vitality potion we were made to brew for class, I added a pinch of Star Blossoms instead. The resulting reaction released an orange gas which smelt like rotten eggs. The pungent gas permeated the entire classroom, causing everyone to run out of the classroom, including me. Some of my fellow potions classmates started to give me an earful, angrily scolding me for making their robes and hair smell like rotten eggs. Some, on the other hand, like Benjamin, Mia and Duncan, defended me, saying it was an accident, and it was not done on purpose. I tried to apologise to the class, but I couldn't get a word in. As the class continued to argue, I saw the stocky figure of Professor Mallard step out of the classroom.
I was expecting the professor to give me an earful for my mistake, like some of my other fellow students were, but he didn't. Instead, he just advised me to read the labels on my potions ingredients more carefully in the future. He also said that anyone could have made the mistake I had made and that I was not to blame. I was thankful that Professor Mallard was so understanding. I truly was. After he had calmed everyone down, he twirled his wand which he held in his hand. The tip of Professor Mallard's wand released a purple mist which engulfed all of us. The pungent smell of rotten eggs disappeared, giving way to a sweet smelling scent. Professor Mallard then asked us to return to class, as he had already dispelled the pungent smell. The rest of the class carried on without further incident, much to my relief.
