While strolling in one of Qimengdian's many beautiful gardens to clear my head after a long day of classes, the earth beneath me started to rattle and shake. I was knocked clean off my feet. I watched in terror as a giant insect burrowed its way towards me. I quickly leapt to my feet. I stared into the eyes of the six-foot long beetle. I could tell it didn't look happy. Rather than try to scare it away myself, I ran away. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me to find a professor or one of Qimengdian's many groundkeepers.

I soon found Professor Jane Annabelle Granger, the beautiful chestnut haired botany professor of Qimengdian. With her, was my brother, Constantine. They were both tending to a bed of beautiful flowers. I must say that seeing Constantine doing any sort of gardening was...strange. I quickly told the two of them about the giant insect and what had happened.

Professor Granger upon hearing what I had said, asked me to quickly lead her to the insect. She said something about how she would not allow a giant filthy insect to threaten her beautiful garden and precious flowers. Constantine followed the two of us as well.

I led Professor Granger and Constantine to where the giant insect had first appeared. Instead of there being just one giant insect, there were now about a dozen of them which scurried around the garden. Constantine and Professor Granger both drew their respective wands. They quickly dispatched the swarm of insects with ease. I marvelled at their mastery of magic. I truly did. They both gracefully and without difficulty, traced the runic symbols needed to casts the various magic spells they were using. I wish that by the time I reach their age, I would have become as good as a magic user as they both are. After making sure the insects would not be making an appearance again, Constantine asked me to return to my clan's temple. He said I had enough excitement for one day, which I agreed.

As I walked back to Clan Mahlau's temple, I wondered whether or not there was anything going on between Constantine and Professor Granger, because it sure looked to me like there was something there. I'll have to ask Constantine one of these days.  But how? That's the question.
