(Latika's Point of view)
I was completely engaged with Satyagni, she kept throwing her sword at me. "I see, you still remember what Rishi Tyaag taught us", she grimaced while she continued to attack and I continued to block. "Satyagni, stop this madness! You will lose your progeny and so will I! What use is this battle? The ones who caused your agony are burning in hell..." She cut me short and spoke with anger, "Stop beguiling me; just as you did with Aaran, you voracious woman!"
Before I could make sense of her sarcastic remark, I heard Mohit's scream. I got distracted and ran towards his voice; I can't lose him is all that went through my mind. The heavy downpour made it impossible to vividly see what lay ahead. When I came closer, I saw Mohit soaked in blood, his hands rested on his stomach, his body convulsed in pain while he lay on the wet road breathing and panting for the pain was unbearable.
Tears rolled down my eyes for this is what I feared. I placed his head gently on my lap, stroke his forehead and whispered in his ears, "Please stay with me, Mohit...Don't leave me." A deep husky voice took me by surprise, "you chose him then." I looked up to see Aaran with his mysterious grey eyes; he himself had a nasty cut on his arm which bled profusely. "Aaran, I haven't chosen anyone. He is my progeny and I have to protect him. He deserves a better life just as you and your sister. Please stop this!" I pleaded tearfully. "No! Stop toying with him!" Satyagni gave an outcry as she fiercely approached me with her sword. But before her sword could penetrate my body, Aaran came in between. He screeched as the gruesome blade pierced his heart. "No!!!" She howled at the sight of what had been done. She was shattered, her blade fell from her hands, and she, on her knees. "My lady, please it's enough..." He mourned. Before he breathed his last, he looked at me with a faint smile and murmured inaudibly. His lifeless body evaporated and so did the rain. My heart grieved inconsolably as I had lost someone who loved me unconditionally. "Latika..." Mohit spoke to my relief. "Don't worry! I won't let go", he winced. I held his hand in assurance. What left me numb was the absence of the man in black; the one who started it all and ended it abruptly... "Aaran...I loved you too!" I spoke inaudibly while looking at the basking sun which had just surfaced.
(Uttara's Point of view)
It all happened too fast. From being a simple college girl to being a Wazir (rook). This was my dad's story coming true and I was a part of it. Excitement filled my heart and I couldn't wait to begin. I had always favoured the white queen whenever dad told me that story and now Latika was that very lady, well her reincarnation and my noisy roommate!
The fight began and I was born to do this. Latika in the Savitri form did a few cool moves and I found myself sitting on a white horse along with Kartike. For some reason he looked uncomfortable like he wanted to say something but couldn't!
I on the other hand felt really comfortable with my quiver of arrows; like I was born to do this and those weapons were made just for me. I saw Latika get right into the battle and Mohit too began fighting with Aaran. I knew that he hated that guy's guts and he was not going to leave him!
That maniac, Aahana, was facing us, laughing like a witch, "You petty humans, how are you gonna survive? My poor babies, surrender and I ll make your deaths less painful and deadly!" Kartike shot her a deadly glare. He turned to look at me, "Uttara, this is going to get ugly but remember that I'm right here with you. Don't worry I won't let anything happen to you!" I saw something in his eyes, warmth and care. Love....? "Right back at you, don't you forget that too. I'm right here and don't be stupid okay." I gave him smile that could probably be my last! He smiled and immediately spoke up, "Uttara, I have to tell you something and its really important." Behind him I saw Aahana readying herself for the attack. "We don't have time, promise me that we'll survive this and then you will tell me this super important thing that you have to tell! Promise?" He looked at me for a moment and then smiled, "Promise." With that I gave him a kiss on his cheek. "Let's go and kick her butt!"
We fought well and that was the truth. But Aahana went full on crazy on us. She attacked from all directions. Kartike fought her off with his javelin while I tried to attack her. Our strategy was working just fine until she attacked our horse; we fell off it while she was still on hers. Damn! Aahana charged at Kartike and just as I got ready to shoot her..... I felt paralyzed ...I couldn't move! She was playing her dirty games again and dammit , they worked . She attacked Kartike and hit him hard and pushed him on the ground. There was blood everywhere on him. My heart broke to see him this way and I couldn't do anything. How dare she put her filthy hands on my guy! He was losing and I was not able to get my head straight! Kartike quickly got up and started attacking her. I could see Aahana, so confident and deadly. Suddenly her expression changed into an expression of pain as if someone had kicked her hard in the gut. It was pure pain that I could see on her face as if something hurt her! Her happy face turned into a distraught one. In that very moment she faltered and Kartike pushed her off her horse. This battle had suddenly turned around.
Bless the gods! She let go of me and I knew that I wouldn't miss. I aimed my arrow towards her, her heart! ................... And I let it go and THUD....Straight through her heart, she gave out a loud cry and I shouted at Kartike in disbelief, "I killed her Kartike!" Suddenly strong winds started blowing as if the world was spinning around! Kartike ran towards me and hugged me tight! He whispered, " I love you!" and then ..............................we found ourselves in the mansion!
SOOOOOOOOO....that was the last chapter! :(................. I know I feel sad too but thank you so much for reading this novella! Love you guys! and don't you go anywhere .
There is a grand EPILOGUE !!
