“That’s my fathers handwriting!” I cry. Levi glances at the room of spectators before once again studying the letter. He slowly hands the letter over to me cautiously. I grab a small bread knife from the table and cut open the paper envelope. I pull the fragile parchment out and unfold it. I read it eagerly, what could they possibly want?:

Dear Eren & Levi
It has been long since we have seen you. If possible we would like to meet up with the both of you soon and discuss what has happened in the past and what is expected of you in the future. If you refuse to have a meeting or disobey our terms we will be forced to take extreme measures, which will lead to consequences for both you and your friends.
We have been watching you and know everything.
-Grisha Yeager and Kenny Ackerman

I hand the paper to Levi so he can read it. He swiftly looks over it before resting his head on the table and closing his eyes.

“Levi?” I inquire. Everyone gapes at me surprisingly, no-one calls the captain by his name. The last person who did got a knee to the groin and was forced to do everyone’s chores for a month.

“They’re threatening us,” he mumbles into the wooden table. I sigh and nod in agreement. What could my father and his uncle want? And do they know about our relationship? Is that what they meant by ‘everything’? I have so many questions and no answers.

“Who’s threatening you? The military?” Asks Hanji as she enters the dining room. I look at Levi, should we tell them? Levi reads my eyes and shrugs his shoulders. I take that as a 'yes'.

“No, my father and Levi’s uncle want us both to meet up with them,” I tell the room’s occupants. Confused eyes stared back at us. First Levi’s unusual behaviour towards me and now his uncle and my father are involved?

“Why?” Asks Erwin.

“Who knows, they’ve been trying to see us again for ages! Only now they’ve starting threatening us. They’re taking it too far!” Levi raises his head and shouts in anger.

“Calm down, what could they possibly do?” Eren says.

“You’ve met my uncle Eren, you should know what he’s capable of. We could win in a fight against him, but what if he has people working for him again? What if he kidnaps us again? We got off lightly once we’re not going to escape a second time.” I know Levi’s right. I just don’t want to admit it.

My eyes unfocus and I start to slowly sway in my seat as I think about the time we were captured.

Long thick iron chains attached to the stone roof of the dungeon, the end of the chains connected to our bruised wrists. My shirt in tatters as a person stands behind me whipping my back with a long, ragged piece of leather. Blood splattering on the floor at each lash, my breath hitching in the dark, my voice rough from screaming, knifes smoothly slicing through my skin, staining it red. Agony lacing up my spine, not knowing if I would survive the night.

That wasn’t even the worst part.

The worst part was knowing once I was dead or unconscious Levi would be receiving the same treatment, that his screams would soon join mine.
