Chapter 1 : Frilly thoughts

Your fat fat Alexa she said to herself she was in the dressing room. Trying on some black pants to wear at her moms promotion party.

Alexa hated going to parties even the formal ones. Why did they force her to attend? It would be so much better to be left in peace. It all seemed so different. And only five years passed from the summer before her freshman year to this one, which signed her last year not only in school but also in that terrible town.

She felt inadequate. It seems like leaving volley ball drained out all her life. Well volley ball had been her life. Not being able to play anymore, at least not at high levels, like she used to, it pained her. But the injury was part of her fault to she overstressed her bones until they'd cracked and her knee couldn't take the strain. So no more professional volleyball anymore. She could still play, but only very calm matches, nothing too big five years.

Ironic something that happen five years ago could just turn the light off in her eyes. Except for a specific departure. She was only 13 back then it was better for her to forget about it. She will turn 18 in couple months three days before Christmas.

Riley left to get some fresh air why couldn't she? In couple months she could leave to Boston she always liked Boston. She would miss her family but she still needed to go.

She tried to not think about him a second brother a least that's what he should have been. He was so different from Jason, her brother, he always made fun of her. But he no he was the kindest person she met Alexa didn't know why his absence upset her so much.

Years ago she wanted to enter a good volleyball team those times are gone. She has to decide her major, she didn't know what she wanted to do. She just knew she liked movies and peace and books.

Vanessa her friend tried to drag her to parties many of times but Alexa always refused. She been a wallflower unable to mingle with other teenagers dancing and drinking, she wasn't much of a talker.

''Everything okay in there?" a voice came from outside it was Vanessa. Oh right she was trying on clothes.

"Yeah just give me a minute." Alexa replied.

She was trying the pants on and they didn't fit she gained weight last time she was a size 8.

She left the booth with all the clothes and handed the clothes to the sales girl. She mumbled" Not my Style" before left to meet her friend in the clothes department. Of course Vanessa would shop here she was surprised they were friends she was a overweight insecure mess and Vanessa looked like a model. They were opposite in everything.

"Found anything?" Vanessa asked checking her tight red dress in the mirror she was trying on.

"Nothing I'd like" Alexa replied.

"Why don't you try on dress?" swinging her hips to show off her pretty dress.

"You know I'm not the kind for dresses" Alexa mumbled.

"Your a woman every women is the kind for dresses" Vanessa rolled her eyes.

"Not me I'd rather wear pants and sweaters everyday" Alexa replied.

Vanessa laughed "You have come out of that shell sooner or later, Alex."

Alexa gave her a dirty look "I'm not hiding I just don't like dresses."

"Well you have to look good for your moms party."

Alexa sighed "Don't remind me of that."

"My brother Dean is going to be there to the one that owns Emily's heart." Vanessa laughed.
