A few seconds afterwards, Claude poked his head in the study, and looked at me in surprise.
"Did you just- how did that cup get there when you're here?"
"Magic, Claude. Magic."
---------------------------------------------------------
After a small explanation of how I made the cup appear in the kitchen, Claude takes a look at the book I was reading the spell out of.
"Do you know who the owners of this book were?" Claude glances up at me as he flips through pages. "They were twin sisters, Twinrova was their nicknames. They were fire and ice witches to be more exact. I always get the two mixed up with each other, but they are long dead now. Their descendants remain, though; one of them was the seamstress that made your cloak."
I tug at my cloak, remembering the kind old lady that gave it to me. "She said that I reminded her of her daughter or something like that."
"That is true, you bear a slight resemblance to her, but there is no relation between the two of you seeing as you are from a different world." Claude turns to the other books on the shelf. "The descendants of Twinrova were close friends with lady Angelica and Master Dark Link. They often attended his birthday parties, and the older ones took care of the young master when his parents were away for a time. They must have left a spellbook here long ago."
"That makes sense. Dark probably didn't know about it since he's never said anything or used any of this magic." I glanced back at Dark's sleeping form, checking to see if he was awake yet.
"I cannot remember if he has seen the book or used any similar magic. It has been quite some time since he's used magic."
Claude excused himself to attend to other duties after a moment of silence between us, leaving the door slightly open allowing the click of his shoes to be heard clearly from the study.
When I turned around, Dark was sitting upright, his chin resting in his palm and his ruby eyes focusing on me as I turned. "Anything happen while I was asleep?"
"Not really." Maybe I can try that teleport spell nonverbally to freak him out. Dark studies my form, waiting for something.
After a few seconds, I tilt my head up and poof away in grey smoke, teleporting outside the door and out of sight.
"What the hell? (Y/n), what am I going to do with you?"
I didn't hear him get up so he must still be sitting. Here we go. Willing myself back into the room, I find myself teleporting right on Dark's lap; a little off of my original thought but it works.
Dark's eyes widen as I popped into his lap, his hands grasping my arms gently as he seems to struggle with containing his laughter.
"I learned a magic trick, Dark. Did you like it?" Holding back a laugh, my arms looped around his neck and we stare into each other's eyes for a moment, our faces edging closer with each breath we took.
"I see that, princess. How did you manage that?" Dark rests his head on my shoulder, smiling into my neck.
"I found a spellbook on one of the bookshelves and my curiosity got the best of me."
"Hm," Dark looks to one of the bookshelves in an attempt to remember the origins of that book, "that book belonged to my old nannies that came by all those years ago. They were kind ladies, and I guess they left their book behind to add to the collection."
Dark smiles at the memory of the ladies, picking me up and carrying me out of the study and to the library. "Lets take a look and see if they left anything else worth while."
We searched the library from top to bottom, only coming up with a few pictures of their family; one in particular had a picture of Claude and another butler on either side of the twins.
"Hm... I wonder who that butler is. He knows Claude somehow."
We continued searching for a while longer, finding another old spellbook in the same condition as the other one, a chipped teacup, an urn of some sorts, and a quill with a red and blue feather on it.
"This is all we came up with. The only real information we have is that picture with Claude in it. The rest is either faded, old knick knacks, or just plain weird."
We called Claude in after a while of rummaging through once again just in case we missed something, and when he entered he appeared to be on edge a bit when he laid eyes on the picture we had.
"How can I be of service, master?" He bowed and made his way to us, closely inspecting the numerous objects we put on the table.
"Claude, do you know who this person is? He seems to be a friend of yours in this photo." I pointed to the man in standing with Claude and watched as Claude seemed taken back by seeing the man.
"That was an old friend of mine from when we served the twins. He was dismissed early, sadly, but he still lives nearby."
I looked at Claude, my eyes technically begging him to bring this man here to join us. Dark let out a sigh and put a book down he was skimming through. "I do suppose we could use another butler around here. What do you think of having your own butler, my dear?"
I jumped up and down in the purest excitement only children were thought to have possessed, eventually stopping to hug Dark a little tight for his own comfort, but he did not protest.
"I will take that as a yes."
