Returning Home

I paid no mind to the magic tricks, me and my cousin Shadow watched (y/n) and Olivia respectively. See, Olivia was Shadow's girl as (y/n) was mine, but they were arranged to be engaged. I would have to have an arranged marriage as well if I hadn't have found (y/n) and became fond of her.

The two of them were just awe-inspiring in their performance. (y/n) played beautifully, my attention being fully on her the whole time like she captured me in a spell of some sort.

(Y/n)'s p.o.v

As our performance was nearing its end, the fire and ice magic circled both of us, increasing the intensity of our music until it burst above our heads into specks of light upon the music's end.

Dark and Shadow were the first to rise, applauding with an infectious energy that spread through the younger ones until they were jumping for joy.

Both Olivia and I blushed at this sight, putting our flutes away in their cases. The younger kids were herded outside to play while the older ones, save for Dark and Shadow, migrated into another room. Both of them waited for us to finish to approach us.

"That was beautiful, (y/n)."

I started blushing again, brushing it off and holding my case close to me.

"Thank you, Dark."

Dark gently took hold of my hand, smiling. "I mean it, (y/n), it was very beautiful."

After that little episode, Dark decided it was about time for us to return home, so we bid farewell to the twins and company. The young ones were sad to see me go; Dark and Shadow had to team up to pry them off of me.

"I hope to see you again, (y/n)." Olivia was the last to see me off, Shadow and Dark shared their own exchange.

"I'm looking forward to it."

Shadow walked Olivia back inside, being replaced with Sebastian with our horses and one for himself.

"I believe it is about time we departed young masters."

"Thank you, Sebastian. I'm placing you under (y/n)'s command so protect her when I am not able, and serve her well."

"Yes, my lord."

Sebastian smiled at me, seeing as during this exchange between the two men Dark had helped me onto my horse and mounted his own. I returned his smile, happiness engulfing me at the thought of having Sebastian as my own personal butler.

Dark's p.o.v

I rode ahead of (y/n) and Sebastian, allowing them to get acquainted with each other and stuff like that. While she's occupied, I reach in my pocket and pull out the ring I've been holding onto for quite a while, the ruby glistening in the sunlight.

I had bought this ring for (y/n) a while back and wanted to give it to her as a small gift, but I believe now that I should wait a while longer and use this to ask her to be my princess. It will take time, mainly because I don't want to rush her, but I'm also afraid of scaring her or something. She seems to be quite happy the way things are now, and I don't want to have this change because I came on too fast.

Hearing one of the two's horses grow nearer, I quickly shove the ring back in my pocket.

"What'cha thinking about?" (Y/n) leans against the neck of her horse, tilting her head sideways at me like a puppy; an adorable puppy at that.

"Not much, just wondering what we'll do once we return to the palace." Looking off into the distance, I struggle to hide my true thoughts.

"Okay." (Y/n) thinks for a second, then her eyes widen with an idea.

"How about we have a dance again? Everyone can come and, um, I didn't really think further than that."

I can't help but smile; her idea is brilliant, and I can possibly ask her to be mine at this dance in front of all of Hyrule. This is an excellent but scary idea, and I quite like it.

"I love that idea. I will send word about the ball and let you decide the date."
