Chapter Four

Horror and Friendship

October 23rd-December 10th

Laikynn didn't expect Tobias to get up and stalk over to her cousin's table. "Haneul what is he doing?" she asks, she's feeling wide awake as she watches him go in horror.

"Nothing good," Haneul says as he pulls Laikynn to him and wraps her in his arms. He watches as Tobias's fists clench and he knows what's going to come next. He's only seen the boy lose his temper a handful of times and it always ends with someone getting hit in the face.

"Why are you holding me so tight?" she asks as she tilts her head to look at Haneul's face. "I can stand on my own you know, I promise I won't pass out on you again."

Haneul chuckles and tickles her ribs lightly. "I'm not holding you because I'm worried about you passing out. I'm holding you because your cousin deserves whatever is coming to him."

It still doesn't really sink in for her until she looks back towards Tobias and watches as he raises his fist up in front of him. Before she can so much as blink his fist flies forward and makes contact with Jeremiah's face. Laikynn watches in shock as her cousin's head flings backward and he falls into the table that he was standing by.

His head hits the seat on his way down and he lands in front of Tobias's feet. Tobias bends down and growls, "Leave Laikynn alone from now one. Stop telling her we wouldn't want her if she was a certain way. She's going to be our friend no matter what you giant ass."

He turns on his heel and walks away from Jeremiah after that. He waves to her and Haneul before he walks right up to the teacher that had been on her way to break up the fight. "It's over now take me to the principal," Tobias says. He doesn't look sorry at all.

He's also clutching the hand he hit her cousin with to his chest like he's in a lot of pain. "I hope he didn't hurt himself too badly," she mumbles as she watches the teacher grab onto his shirt to steer him out the door.

Her attention is back on her cousin a split second later. She is scared to see how he's going to react. Jeremiah manages to sit up with the help of one of his friends, Laikynn isn't quite sure what his name is. She's seen him with her cousin often though.

He shoves his friend out of the way and he glares straight at her. "I'm going to kill him," he mouths before taking off towards Tobias and the teacher.

Jeremiah's face burns with anger and humiliation. He's going to make sure that Laikynn's stupid friend isn't going to get away with touching hi. A few days home will not be a good enough punishment. An animalistic snarl crawls it's way up from his throat. "I'm going to kill you," he says as he grabs onto the back of Tobias's neck. His hands clench around it like vice grips.

The force of the impact is so great that it knocks the poor teacher out of the way. She hits the wall and goes down and there's no one else that seems to be willing to break the pair up. Tobias is quickly turning blue and Jeremiah's hands only tighten further when he notices. "You'll not get away with humiliating me," he growls as he drives his nails into the boy's skin as well.

Laikynn can barely believe her eyes. She knows that her cousin isn't the nicest person but she's never thought he was capable of really hurting someone. She didn't think he could do much more than shoving someone in the hallway. This changes things and this makes her worry for Tobias's life as well as her own. When she hears a choking noise start to come from Tobias's throat she manages to finally spring into action.
