"Hello?" a weak voice said. The door had been opened just a crack and all that could be seen of the shadowy interior, was an old, green eye.

"I'm so sorry!" Copper blurted out, "I didn't know anyone lived here!" Oh, moons, oh, moons, oh, moons, oh MOONS!

"It's quite alright." the eye seemed to smile, "I haven't had a visitor in over ten years."

The door closed and a lock could be heard clicking, and the door swung open. An odd green RainWing, much older than Copper's parents stood in the doorway, his gaze sweeping over the crowd of dragons resting outside his home. "There sure are a lot of you," he remarked, "What brings you all into the mountains?"

"We were invited to the Gale Gala." Pearl announced proudly.

"All of you dragonets?" he asked, still green even though most RainWings would have changed at least three times by now. Maybe this is what happens when a RainWing gets older. Copper hypothesized.

"We're all part of Rising Colors." she explained.

"Is that like a new name for Jade Mountain Academy?" he asked, his pale green eyes full of confusion, and maybe even hope.

"Uh, no," Pearl said, "but some of us did go to Jade Mountain for the school year."

"You did?" the RainWing took a stride out the door, eyes now blazing with hope, "Do any of you know Peril?"

"Um," Kes said, glancing at Copper "she's our mother."

The RainWing gasped, bringing a talon to his snout.

Suddenly, it all fell into place in Copper's mind, his scales, his intrest in Peril, his isolation.

This dragon was his grandfather.
