The teacher spoke to the class, but his words were delayed, so he was speaking Japanese.

"Welcome back class.  As I am sure you have noticed, we have a new student in class 3-A.  Stein Danny transfered here from America."

A few murmurs rose among the students.

"You may all get to know him during the break.  For now, let us start our lesson."

With the very brief introduction, the teacher launched into his history lecture, writing things on the board.

Having already pulled out my notebook, I began taking dual notes.  On the right pages I took my notes of what he said, in English.  On the left, I quick-sketched as many of the Japanese characters that I was able to from the ones he put on the board.  But since I didn't understand any of it, I focused mainly on my notes in English.  I wasn't really listening to what the teacher said; I was simply writing down the words being spoken.  So when the teacher asked me a question half-way through his lecture, I was startled from out of my zone.

I stared blankly at the teacher.

"Do you know what the question is, Stein-san?"

I shook my head, no.  The teacher sighed and repeated his question...in Japanese, of course.

I furrowed my brow and started to scan through my notes.  I found his answer, but as I went through my limited Japanese vocabulary in my head, I quickly realized it wasn't something I could say without using English.  And I didn't want to look stupid trying to find the right words.

"Um...Gomen'nasai, sensei."

He sighed, obviously disappointed in my failure to provide the wanted information.

"Asano.  Your answer?"

The red-head next to me stood and gave the teacher the desired answer in Japanese.  As he sat down, I could feel his cryptic stare resting on the left side of my face.  I simply went back to taking notes, trying to diminish my pressence as much as possible.

Soon enough, the class ended and the teacher walked out.  As soon as that happened, my notebook was snatched from me.

"Why did you write all of your notes in English?"

I looked down at my desk and said nothing.

"This isn't even proper English!  The sentences don't make any sense."

I silently took my notebook out of his grasp and returned it to my backpack.  Looking for my next notebook, I glanced at the schedule.  Math was next.  Excellent, my best subject.  History was never my forté to begin with, but in math, science, and English, I was exceptional.

A smirk found its way onto my face as I prepped for the next teacher to arrive.

For math, I had brought several notebooks, so that I could add to any of them, according to whatever subject the teacher decided to teach us today.

My range of notebooks included Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometey, PreCalculus, and two mostly empty notebooks, one for Calculus and another for Statistics.  However, even these two contained some notes.

After setting the stack of notebooks on my desk, I glanced at Asano.  His light purple eyes eyed my stack.

"What are those for?"

I answered him simply in English.

"Math."

After I spoke, the door opened, and a teacher entered the classroom.  The student scrambled to their seats, muttering under their breaths.
