They let us run around the yard for a few more minutes, until dad stopped us. "Hey kids, don't you think it's to stop now?" He said sarcastically. "I'm not a kid." I whined. Billy took chance of that and caught me. "Got you princess! Who is the old man now?" He asked, tickling me, as I tried to get away from him.
"That is unfair! You cheated! I was distracted!" I gasped through my loud laughs. "There were no rules, princess. Now admit that I'm not an old man." He asked me.
"Okay, you're not an old man." I admitted and he stopped tickling me. I quickly got on my feet, brushing the dirt off my knees, and we went back to our families calmly.
"I'm glad you girls are finally here, though." Billy continued. "Now these two can finally shut up." He said pointing at Jake and dad. "They went on and on about you, since they learned you were moving back."
"I did not." Both guys shouted. "Ohhh, yes you did. 'My baby girls are coming back, I missed them so much, blah, blah, blah.' 'I can't wait to see Drey again, I missed my best friend so much, blah, blah, blah.'" Billy mocked.
Dad rolled his eyes, trying to play it off. "Alright, keep it up and I'll roll you into the mud." He said and at the same time Jake whined, "I don't sound like that.", making me nudge him and smirk.
Billy wheeled around and started to chase after dad. "After I ram you in the ankles." He shouted. Our dads started to run around in circles in the middle of the street acting like they were two years old. Bella, Jake and I stood there and laughed at their childish manners.
"Doesn't that man ever get tired?" I asked no one in particular, rolling my eyes. Jake turned around to face Bella, sticking his hand out. "Hey, I'm Jacob." "Hey." She muttered. "We used to make mud pies together when we were little." "Right. No, I remember." She lied.
"So missed your best friend, huh?" I smirked at him. "He is making a fuss out of nothing. I just stated that I was happy you were coming back." He shrugged.
"Yeah, whatever you say, Jakey-poo." I mocked him, making him frown at me. "I missed you, too, you dork." I said punching his arm. "Last time I saw you, you had a broken arm."
He laughed at the memory, as he looked back at me. "Well, I would have been perfectly fine, if someone didn't push me out of the tree." "I don't know what you're talking about. I remember you, clear as a day, jumping off the tree on your own." I lied, with the biggest grin on my face.
"Are they always like this?" Bella, who was still looking at our fathers, asked interrupting our conversation. "It's getting worse with old age." Jake joked. "You haven't seen anything yet." I informed her.
Billy and Charlie had finally stopped horsing around and walked back to us. "So what do you think?" Charlie asked Bella. "Of what?" "Your homecoming present, of course."
Dad motioned towards the faded red truck that Jake had been leaning on earlier and he looked at her expectantly.
With the reunion and all I hadn't even noticed the truck that I knew since I was a little girl. And from the look on Bella's face she hadn't seen it either.
