With a deep breath, I readjusted my bag and pushed the door open. The first thing I noticed were the lab tables around the room. Then my eyes looked at the students that were already here.

Then it hit me; these kids weren't one year older than me, they were two. I could see Mike Newton, sitting in one of the labs, a girl with brown hair beside him.

Their heads turned to look at me as I stopped in the doorway. This can't be right. I knew I was good in chemistry, but that good? I slowly approached the teacher's desk and he turned to look at me.

"How can I help you?" He asked me. Great he didn't even think I could be his new student. "Are you Mr. Jefferson?" He nodded. "I'm Audrey Swan, your new student." I stated.

"Oh, that's right. The chemistry genius. Glad to have you in my class." He smiled warmly. I passed him the slip and he signed it, then he pointed that I were to sit in one of the labs in the back.

My lab partner wasn't here yet, so I chose one of the seats and sat down, dropping my bag at my feet. Chemistry genius? What did the papers, my previous school sent them, say?

Just as the bell was about to ring, a guy, tall and muscular, like a weight lifter, with black curly hair, golden eyes and pale skin, hurried through the door.

He came and sat down beside me, smiling lightly at me. "New student, right?" He asked me. "Yeah, moved here yesterday." I nodded at him, with a smile growing on my face. I liked him, I think we'd be good friends.

"I'm Emmett, Emmett Cullen." He said, offering me his hand. "Audrey Swan." I shook it. "You don't look like you're a junior." He raised an eyebrow. "That's because I'm not." I said as-a-matter-of-fact.

"Well, well, well, we have a smarty amongst us." He smirked. "You could say that." I smirked back and just then the bell rung. Mr. Jefferson started the class explaining the experiment we were to work on with our lab partners.

It was one of the basic ones. We had already done this back in Phoenix and I understood, why I was in a class with juniors. Emmett seemed to know what he was doing, too.

We worked together effortlessly, helping each other out and we were the first ones done. The teacher congratulated us and then told us to clean our table, while we waited for the rest of the class to finish.

We cleaned up, talking about ourselves and our lives. I found out that his parents died when he was a little boy and Carlisle Cullen, the doctor in the local hospital, adopted him.

His brothers and sisters were also adopted and the only thing that was common between all of them was that some tragedy happened to them when they were little and that all had golden eyes and pale skin.

He also told me that two of them where biological siblings, twins, and the girl was his girlfriend. I didn't find it weird that they were adoptive siblings and were together; they didn't share the same blood.
