When I went to see Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children at the cinema last October, I was absolutely enthralled. It wasn't quite like any of Tim Burton's other movies - rather, it reminded me of Doctor Who! Not only were there monsters and battles and time travel themes, but the film had a distinctly British feel to it and, most importantly, it had a certain warmth to it. The excitement and humour was very much akin to Russell T Davies' style (he was the head writer of Doctor Who for four seasons).
I received the novel of Miss Peregrine as a Christmas present and read it soon afterward, only to be really surprised that it differed so much from the movie. Not only were many of the characters completely different but many scenes had been taken away or added, though not entirely changing the main plot. At the same time, though I know that original books are supposed to be better than their film adaptations, I actually still prefer the film version. The book was much darker with not as much of the warmth that I love about the movie but, even so, I'm glad I got to compare them.
Regarding the drawing that I did, I'd imagine the Doctor and Miss Peregrine would have a lot to talk about, what with them both being interested in time travel and manipulation. I reckon the Doctor would think she was a Time Lady on his first impression, hence the pocket watch reference. I also think he'd be great with the children, making friendly jokes as he found out what their special powers were, and they'd rather like him. I bet he'd love Enoch's organic robots especially and dance around the room saying how brilliant all his experiments were. Maybe Enoch would even crack a smile. :)
Miss Peregrine would be fascinated to see the inside of the Tardis, but she'd take the idea of it being "bigger on the inside than the outside" very well, considering that she's encountered many far stranger things in her lifetime. Oh, that reminds me! I reckon the reason the Doctor ended up finding her loop was that he spotted a time abnormality on his computer when travelling past an island in Wales and just had to investigate...
