My second Corpse Bride picture. I got the idea for this picture from the song "Piano In The Dark" by Brenda Russell.
"I know I'm caught up in the middle
I cry just a little
When I think of letting go
Oh no, gave up on the riddle
I cry just a little
When he plays piano in the dark..."
I have a feeling lovely Victor Van Dort would play piano in the dark with his beloved wife Victoria just like in the song...well...the picture was supposed to be dark, but I couldn't find out how to darken the image on GIMP for love or money!
I used images I found on Google as references for the piano, sofa and Victoria's nightgown. (Actually, didn't Victorian men wear nightgowns too? I don't know...anyway, I'm pretty sure I didn't want to draw Victor in a dress! :D ) I'm pleased with how Victor's hair came out this time - it didn't look right in the picture of him I did before! I also made Victoria's hair longer than most people draw it - Lady Everglot would probably have considered waist-long tresses to be the only fitting hair length for a young lady!
Anyway, the main reason I drew this picture was because tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of the release of the Corpse Bride and my friend KwaziiCat on DeviantArt is really excited! Happy tenth birthday to Victor, Emily and Victoria!
