I had just gotten home from tour a few days ago, so I decided to walk the streets of Tempe for a little while. I missed this place.
Nothing had changed, really. I was only gone a few months. Buildings looked the same, streets did, too. Same people, even.
I'm not really paying attention to where I'm walking, moreso at my surroundings.
The familiar places make me feel at home again.
As I'm walkling, I don't notice a small body getting closer to me, and I walk straight into them.
"Holy shit!" It's a girl.
I immediately look down.
"Oh my god, are you okay? I'm so sorry." I say, frantic. I reach my hand down to help her up, and she gladly takes it.
"I'm fine. Thanks for asking. But don't worry about this. I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Uhm, this is kind of a weird question, but do you have any idea where we are right now?" I chuckle at her question. She was definitely new.
I step a little closer to her, getting a better look. She's pretty.
Not your average pretty, though. She was really beautiful, in a way I couldn't quite explain.
"Yeah, get a little lost?" I reply, smiling down at her. She's probably only 5'4 or so. Dark brown hair, very long. Light brown eyes. Slightly crooked smile. A dimple. Small nose.
"Yeah, tell me about it. I just moved here, not completely sure where anything is yet." Nailed it.
"Well, where do you need to be?" I ask, trying to be helpful.
Luckily, her house isn't far from here, and I'm able to help point her in the right direction.
She seemed like a genuinely cool person. She wasn't freaking out or yelling at me for making her fall or anything, and she wasn't screaming my name, so that's a plus. I wanted to be friends with her.
"Thank you so much, random guy. I really appreciate it, but I should get moving." She says, turning away from me, beginning to walk.
"Hey, wait!" I can't believe I'm doing this. she turns and looks back at me.
"Uh, yeah?"
"Can I at least get your name? I mean, you did run into me." I say, shurgging a little and winking. She rolls her eyes at me, but I see a smirk.
"Lyrick. My name's Lyrick." She replies.
"Nice to meet you. I'm John."
Lyric. That's a unique name. Like song lyrics? I don't get to ask her.
"Hi John, bye John." She says, turning and walking off, too fast for me to call for her again.
"Bye, Lyrick." I say quietly, rubbing my jaw and starting to walk once again.
