Oh my god, I'm a total dickhead. She's never gonna talk to me now! Why should I even bother?
Maybe it's because it's all I can think about 24/7. I'm gonna do it. Am I? Oh, my god. Calm down. Okay.
I pull my phone from my front pocket and go to her contact, staring at her number. Alright. I press call and put the speaker up to my ear.
No. Forget it. I'm hanging up. I pull the phone away to end the call, when I hear her voice through the phone line.
"Hello?" She sounds confused. Well, I guess I would be too.
"Uh, hi. Is this Lyrick?" I ask anyway, even though i know it's her.
"Hi, John." She sounds annoyed. I knew she would be. Who wouldn't be annoyed if someone said they would do something and put it off for two weeks?
"Hey, I'm sorry it took so long for me to call..." I say, breathing a little heavy. I'm so nervous right now. I can tell she really just doesn't want to hear me. "I really am sorry. I got really nervous and I don't know and now I'm rambling again and I'm just really sorry."
That wasn't entirely true. I wasn't too nervous to call until I went to do it today. The reason I had taken so long to get back to her is because I'd been really busy. When I first got back from tour nothing was busy, but then the band started to write some new stuff and we practiced a lot and I had family things going on. As soon as I realized how long it'd been since I told her I'd call her, I freaked out. I didn't know what to do.
It totally makes sense that she's annoyed with me. I would be too. I hope she isn't so mad at me that she decides she won't go on that date with me.
"It's fine, don't worry about it." She says quietly, almost too quiet for me to hear. I sigh in relief.
"So, if you don't think I'm a total douche bag," I say with a small chuckle. "Would you still consider that date?"
She's silent for a moment, and I start to worry that I've ruined any chance I had with her.
"I'd love to." Her voice is very breathy and I stifle a laugh. What was that? "Wow, that sounded weirdly sexual, sorry." She laughs a little and so do I.
"No worries," I say, smiling to myself. "So, how about tomorrow night, around 6:30?" I ask.
"Sounds good to me." She replies.
"Should I pick you up from your apartment or meet you somewhere?" I ask, trying to make sure the plans are set in stone so I don't put anything off by accident.
"Wait, how do you know I live in apartment?" She asks, sounding frantic. I start to laugh.
"You told me when I was giving you directions. It's not like I know which apartment you're in, I just know the building." She gives a nervous giggle and I smile.
"Right. Sorry. I don't know. Uh, just pick me up outside the building, I'll be there." She says.
"Alright, see you then, Lyrick with a k," I say.She giggles a little, probably at the silly nickname I came up with. "And again, I'm sorry I took so long." I apologize again. I really was sorry.
"Don't worry about it!" She exclaims, laughing at me. "It's fine. See you later, John with j."
She hangs up.
How did I score that? Even after I was a total dick, she still gave me a chance? I must be one lucky dude.
