Today is my first day of work. Thank god there aren't any uniforms, just a dark blue apron with the logo. I throw on some clothes, brush through my hair, brush my teeth, and apply a little mascara. Might as well try to look decent while I'm working, right?
I show up at the shop, smiling at the cute place. I really love the look of it. I walk to the counter to find a new person standing there. He has very blonde hair, hanging just a little over his face, and blue eyes.
"Hey, you must be Lyrick." He says, smiling. "I'm Kyle." He outstretches his hand and I shake it quickly.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Lyrick." I say. "Wait. Shit. You knew that. I'm sorry. I'm not the best with words." He chuckles and flips his hair off of his eyes.
"Don't worry about it, it's all good. So, I guess youy could say I'm your "trainer"." He says as he gestures for me to walk around to the other side of the counter.
He shows me the ins and outs of how to work everyhting and how to make everything. It's generally a pretty simple job. I'm on the cash register right now. Shouldn't be too hard.
I'm more than halfway through my shift, and my feet are killing me. I took my break already. I'm not complaining, none of this is hard work, but my body still hurts from all this standing in one place business. I take a sip of my water and crack my fingers out of habit.
I hear the bell on the door chime and I look towards the person who just walked in.
Oh my god. It's him.
That guy that I ran into. It's him. What's his name again? Jared? Jeffrey?
John! His name was John. His name is John.
This is so weird.
He comes up to the counter and we lock eyes.
"Lyrick." He breathes. I stare back at him, surprised. He remembers me?
