Chapter 5~So the one dreadful evening finally came, and here I am, chewing on the tips of my fingernails, while leaned against my couch, panicking. What was I to do? I glanced worriedly at the clock, only to find it was already 6:20, which meant he was going to be here soon!
"Oh Beth, he's coming soon!" I screeched at my best friend, who was plopped down comfortably on the other side of the couch beside me, reading a comic book.
"Beth!" I screamed in her ear, much louder this time, seeing that she had ignored me.
She giggled a little at whatever was going on in the comic, paying no mind to her sweet best friend over here, who's worrying her ass off. Great friend she is, right?
"Hey B-" I began, annoyed. But before I could finish my sentence, the one sound I dreaded the most rung in my ear, and I could feel my heart almost leap out of my chest.
"Oh, looks like he's here!" she cried happily, before pulling herself up, and heading towards the entrance.
I immediately began to hesitate. What if I mess up? And he finds out it's me? But I'm dressed differently right now, so he shouldn't be able to tell, right? But there's still a tiny resemblance! Oh god, just kill me now... I viciously chewed on my bottom lip, as I prepared for him to show up.
"She's in the living room. Come on in," I heard Beth's voice getting clearer as footsteps approached, and soon enough, the one and only idiot's face popped up.
I smiled seductively at him as soon as he caught sight of me. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped slightly.
"Hello there," I greeted as I crossed my long legs over one another.
"Hey," he replied as his shocked expression from before turned into an annoying smirk.
"So did you bring it?" I asked, trying not to sound too eager.
"Yes, yes of course," he replied, as he dug in his pocket, and pulled out a black box. "Here it is."
I reached out a hand, asking for the phone, and he seemed to get the message.
"Thank you," I beamed at him, as soon as the box was in my hand.
From the corners of my eyes, I could see him staring at me, and it made me quite uncomfortable. But then again, who doesn't stare at me?
"You know staring's quite rude," I began.
I watched as he cocked his head to the side, as if question. "Sorry, I just thought... You looked somewhat familiar..."
I froze, as panic surged through me, and my heart nearly skipped a beat. Does he know? But how?
I laughed nervously, "Who doesn't know me? Of course I would look familiar..."
"That's not what I meant..." He placed his hand under his chin, as if thinking for a moment. "It feels like I've seen you somewhere before..."
Oh god. I don't like where this is going....
"Of course! On TV or magazines, I bet." Please don't ask anymore questions! I think I'm going to die!
"Yes, most likely..." he nodded his head in agreement.
Before he could have the chance to ask anymore questions, I added, "It sure is getting late. You should be heading back now. There's no reason for you to stay any longer. I have my phone back."
He eyed me with doubt, and was about to say something, but luckily Beth barged in. "Oh, Jessica! You have a photo shoot starting in like ten minutes!" She then looked over at Tyler, and frowned apologetically. "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid we need to leave. You should go soon as well." And with that, she grabbed him by the arm, and herded him out of my house.
