Chapter 5~Love and War

  Kelso walked in on Blackheart and his eyes widened at the two wolves. Gritting his teeth he let out a snarl and stormed out of the room. Shimmer's eyes went wide at Kelso as she woke up at the growl. Blackheart turned questioningly at Shimmer. 

   "He is my best friend. He has been trying toi become my mate for quite some time now." Blackheart turned away, embarrased at the new story.

   "I'm going to pick over the left overs that were stored last night." he mumbled backing out of the den.

Padding over to the store he chose a couple of strips and ate buy the elder bush. Thinking over Kelso he wondered if he had made a new enemy. 'I will have to keep watch over him later.' He thought. Watching, he saw Kelso slink over to the back entrance and circle the camp. 'What in Sculcan is he doing?!' Shimmer strided out of his den and headed over to the hunters den. Blackheart shook himself and went to go talk to Jinx. 

   Shimmer woke up as a paw nudged her. Rolling over Kelso's face was right above her. Screeching, she lunged out not relising it was him. Kelso jumped back and nelt in submission. Calming down she focused on him. "What were you thinking hanging over me like that when oI was hardly awake?!" She growled. 

   "I wanted to talk to you." He admitted. 

   "If it is about Blackheart I know what I am doing." She snapped. 

   "Would you walk with me. Please?" He asked. Shimmer hesitated but then nodded her head. As they walked out of the den, she noticed Blackheart watching them. ' head whipped around and he walked over to talk to Jinx. Feeling guilt she padded on into the forest. 

  After a while they  came to a cave that looked quite comfortable and large. Walking inside Kelso turned around and sat down. "The reason I brought you here is I wanted you to know your options." He growled quietly. Shimmer jerked backward but she was facing the entrance. Slamming herself against the wall she finally submitted as Kelso came closer.  

   Blackheart's tail twitched. Shimmer had been gone for since this morning and it was near moonhigh. Starting to worry he motioned for Lilly to come over. He stopped pacing as she reached him. "I'm worried. Shimmer has been missing fsince this morning and she has not returned. Could you send out a patrol to find her?" He asked not mentioning Kelso. 

   Lilly nodded. "Ofcourse, I shall go grab Flutter, Skunkstripe, Thistle, and Jinx." Rushing to the dens, Lilly soon gathered the wolves and headed out to the woods. Blackheart walked over to his den and layed down in his bedding. Drifting into a distressful sleep. 

   When he woke up,Shimmer was beside him. He knew by the scent of her what happened. "That bastard didn't?!" Shimmer nodded. Gettingn up he angrily rushed to the Warriors' den. Nipping Kelso in the leg, the male jumped up, slashing. Seeing the alpha, he understood immeadiatley. Growling he nodded. "Sunhigh." Kelso agreed. Laying back down Kelso pointing put his back to the alpha. 

   Blackheart walked out of the den and layed back down by Shimmer. 

   "What happened?" She asked, guessing already. Blackheart jerked his head showing yes and Shimmer looked down worridley. "You don't have to do this." She pleaded knowing it was useless. 

   Blackheart ignored her and slipped into sleep.  

    He woke up just in time.
