Chapter 1.

Jade Davidson.

I collected my check, "Is this it?" Kathryn shrugged, "It wasn't a big guy, he wasn't wanted for as many things as the others where." I sighed and nodded. Ever since I got into bounty hunting, I've been working my way up; from missed jury, to abuse, to homicide. I think the case I just did was a step down for my career.

$500 bucks was all I got, normally it's over a thousand, "If you get anymore interesting, jobs," I told her, "call me." She smiled, "Will do Jade." I walked out and got in my dads truck, it's an old blue ford from, I don't know, the 80's, so it's pretty crappy. It took three times for the engine to start, then I made my way to school.

Even with all of the hunting, I've still had time for school. When I get older I need four years of high school to be on my résumé. I pulled into the parking lot beside my friend, Julia. She has an expensive mini copper, I was never really jealous of her car... "Hey," she said as she jumped out of her car, I smiled and nodded. "The last case wasn't real good." Julia is the only on that knows about my... extra- circular activities.

She faked a smile, she never did like what I did, she said that it's not right for someone my age to be doing that. Yet again she understands, I need money for bills, and my fathers surgery. "How much?" She asks.

"Only $500." I said sadly, we started toward the school, the bell rang. "Sorry..." She whispered. We walked in silence into class. Our first class is history, my least favorite subject of all.

Once we walked in Taylor, little Miss. Popular, already starting talking about us. She laughed, "it looks like they scrummaged through the garbage for clothes." Everyone laughed, and I quickly looked at my clothes. I had some ripped jeans, and a black tank top under my leather jacket.

I walked to the back with Julia and took my seat, she was also wearing black ripped jeans, with bright neon leggings under. She wore her white flats that matched her Sleeping with Sirens tank top. To us it's natural, for them, it's trash.

"Ehh," Taylor sighed, not being quiet at all, "And their hair is plain." I laughed, against her hair sprayed rock solid hair, she's calling my blonde hair plain? All I do is throw it into a pony tail. And Julia's black, brown streaked hair was down around her shoulders.

We've both learned to ignore Taylor, to much hassle to get her to shut up. The teacher finally came in and started talking about things I couldn't care less about. When the class was finally over I went to my locker to grab my math book, Jacob was waiting for me. I smiled when I saw him, "Just can't wait for me can you!"

He laughed and shook his head, "Jade, no one can wait for you." Jacob has been my friend for three years now, he had brown flipped hair and wore black everyday. When he's not obsessing over his girl friend Amanda, he walks me to math. "Let's go."

The rest of the day went by like any other day. When I was able to go to the office I was exited, I'm $5,000 away from paying off the rest of the surgery, he had cancer, and they removed it when he first married my mom. And after she died they found signs of cancer in his brain again. I've been working it off since, it already costs a lot to have him stay at the hospital every night and for all of the fluids pumped into him.

I pulled in to the work office, I noticed a strange gray dodge I've never seen before in the front. I grabbed my phone and went inside. Kathryn was pacing in the Lobby, when she saw me she jumped out of her skin, "There you are! Some officer is here to talk to you." She pointed to the back room. I raised my eyebrows, and walked to the back.
