It has been almost a week since the Police rocked up on the doorstep and a lot has happened since then. For a few days Scarlet and I were still bickering over what happened, and Nathan even yelled and almost hit Scarlet at one point. I managed to stop him, and after that I realised something. The more Scarlet and I bicker, the longer Nathan will hold onto his grudge. My theory was that if Scar and I patched things up, Nath would eventually get over it to. So today – an exact week from the day that started all of this because of my stupidity – I made peace with Scarlet. I told Skylar what happened, obviously leaving out certain details though. Once everything was back on track things went back to normal.
It was an average day and I had just gotten home from school. But instead of being greeted with an empty driveway and lonely house, I saw Nathan's car in its usual spot and another car next to it; one that I've never seen before. 'Well that's weird' I thought to myself as I made my way into the house. I walked into the dining room and saw Nathan talking to some guy, and next to him was a girl that was about my age. She had long, dark brown hair with a red tint to it and was wearing a school uniform. The shirt was similar to mine – a white, short-sleeve button up shirt with a collar. She also wore a light grey blazer and light grey pleated skirt that went mid-thigh, and she was wearing a light blue belt. The guy – looking a few years older than Nathan – was wearing a black shirt, black leather jacket and dark jeans. I've never met these people or heard of them.
Nathan looked up and then introduced me to these new people. "Alysha this is my former Bandmate Tom and his captive Ruby. Tom, Ruby this is Alysha."
When I heard the word captive my eyes went wide. 'Another girl like me? You can't be serious. Wait, does this mean that Tom is a- '
"Yes I'm a vampire as well."
'How did-?'
"I do that? I can read minds" Tom smirked. Okay this is getting really weird. This Tom guy gives me the creeps."Okay, nice to meet you but I have a lot of homework to get through so I'm going to my room. Bye" I said quickly and ran up to my room, dropping my bag on the floor. Well this went from a normal day to overwhelming really quickly. A stack of thoughts raced through my head. 'How many more girls are just like me? How many people have I met that are just like me? Why does this happen? How can this happen?'
I shook my thoughts from my mind and started to unpack my bag. I looked at the list of homework I had to get through and there was a lot of it so I didn't even bother getting changed out of my uniform; I just took my blazer off and put it over the back of my desk chair. I opened my Commerce text book and started to read the case study when Nathan knocked on my door, standing in the doorway.
"Can I help you?" I said, not lifting my eyes from the page.
"Yeah, you can. You can stop worrying about your homework and come downstairs. It will be good for you to make another friend, and you can do your homework later."
"No, I have a lot to do and most of it is due tomorrow. If I don't start now it will never get done."
I heard him sigh before walking over to me and closing my text book. "Come downstairs. You can do this later."
I glared at him. "Why do you want me to come downstairs so badly anyway?"
He had this strange look on his face and it took him a while to reply. "Because I just do okay. Now come down, if you're not there in five minutes you will have a very sore ear when I come back up here." He left.
'Well that was harsh... and weird. What is up with him?' I sighed, put my pen back in my pencil case and shut my workbook. It looks like I'm going downstairs.
I made myself a cup of tea and sat down next to Nathan. I stared at my mug, my head resting in the palm of my hand. After sitting there a few minutes I heard a small voice speak.
