"Leighton!" Kennedy smiled widely as she felt someone's hands cover her eyes. "Oh my gosh, how was New York?" Kennedy asked, the two best friend's walking down the hallways of their high school.

The two girls had ruled the school since they'd gotten there, and now bing juniors everything was still the same. They were considered to be the most popular and the smartest out of their class.

"New York was good but I've missed you." Leighton replied, the two laughing together. "Oh my gosh, so did you get your ACT scores back?" The young brunette asked, causing Kennedy to shake her head, disappointed.

   "Nope, what'd you make?"

"I made a 35." Leighton said with a cheerful smile, proud of herself for performing so well.

"I'm so happy for you! Where are you going to go? Vanderbilt?" Leighton smiled excitedly as she nodded, the two walking up the stairs.

"I hope so. What's going on with you and Ethan? My mom was asking if I knew him." Leighton asked, worrying Kennedy. The last thing that she wanted was for her best friend to be involved in something between her and Ethan.

"I don't know. I have to go. Coffee after school?" Kennedy suggested, the two beginning to part their ways.

"Always!" Leighton replied, before they went down separate halls, Kennedy more anxious than ever. Olivia talked to her daughter about Ethan? Why?

Kennedy went about her everyday routine, ignoring the many text messages from Ethan. It killed her inside to not respond because she missed him. She missed the good Ethan, the sober one.

"Baby, please talk to me." Kennedy held her breath as she read the text message.

"That wasn't right, what you did." Kennedy replied, locking her phone as she walked out of the school.

"I know and I'm so sorry. Please, meet me. I'm at the gas station now." Kennedy let out a heavy sigh as she read the message, sitting in her car.

   "Okay," she replied.

"Hey, honey." Olivia said, hearing the front door open then close, knowing it was her daughter. "Hey, hey, what's wrong?" The mother said, acing both hands on her daughter's shoulders, stopping Leighton from moving any further once she realized something was wrong.

"I guess boyfriends trump best friends." Leighton sighed, shrugging her shoulders. "Kennedy and I were suppose to meet for coffee. I guess things with Ethan held her up, I don't know." The girl walked away from her mother, Olivia worried more than ever.

"Hon, I'm gonna go over to Carrie's. Want to come with me?" Olivia asked, walking into her daughter's bedroom.

"No, I'll be here when you get back." Leighton replied, shrugging her shoulders as she stood in front of the long mirror, removing her make up.

"Alright, well, I love you." Olivia wrapped her arms around her daughter's shoulders from behind.

"I love you too." The teenager said before turning to hug her mother, Olivia soon leaving the house.
