Chapter 12

*NEXT MORNING*

I woke up snuggling to a pillow.

Hayes probably left.

I check my phone.

New text from Hayes.

hey babe! sorry i didnt wake up besides u. i snuck out so your parents wouldnt see me. but txt me if u want me over. xx

Aww Hayes is so sweet.

But today was 'the day'.

I hated this day.

But what Hayes told me last night was true.

Those words will always stick with me.

"Lauryn! Do you wanna come with us or nah?" Marcus yells from downstairs.

They're going to the vet...

I run downstairs.

I see him lying down.

I run and give him a huge hug.

I start crying. again.

"I love you ,boy. And you know that. I'm gonna miss you. And say hi to Missy for me."

Missy was our cat, I loved her but not as much as Troop.

I stood up and wipe my tears away.

"You coming.. or nah?"

"No thanks."

"Okay."

The whole family is going except for me.

They start leaving.

I kiss Troop right on the nose for the last time.

"I love you."

They all start leaving.

Troop kept on looking back at me.

"C'mon Troop." Dad says tugging his leash.

He turns and starts limping out towards the car.

'Was that my last time seeing him?'

It hit me.

Hard.

I sit down from where I was standing

and cry over all the times we shared.

*ring*

Incoming Call From :

Hayesie boo 💕

I answer.

Hayes: Hey babe!

Lauryn: ...

H: Babe?

L: I need you..

H: I'll be right there!

"It's okay. It's okay."

He says rubbing my back.

I feel so calm around him.

I start falling asleep in his arms.

**1 HOUR LATER**

**HAYES POV**

Lauryn and I are on her bed.

She's sound asleep on my chest with my arm around her waist.

Her family isn't home.

But they texted her saying they had to do an errand so they wouldn't be home for awhile.

I look at her.

She's so beautiful.

I kiss her forehead.

She slowly wakes up.

"Hello beautiful." I say.

She smiles.

Life is complete.

*ring*

Her phone rings.

It's Nick.
