Chapter: 23

*Back to Maya's POV*

I stopped running when, I thought I lost Riley earlier. It was very dark out and I was in the bad part of New York. It was also, 10 pm.

I sighed deeply, thinking about how bad I've made my life. The people who care about me the most I've let down. Multiple times at that.

It was very chilly, and all I had was a sweater.

"Bring the girl in that building." I heard a voice say close by, I turned my head towards the noise and I couldn't believe what I saw. There were two men holding my best friend. She wasn't awake and there was something in her mouth. I blinked multiple times hoping this wasn't my reality. But, I'm Maya Hart. Of course it's my reality.

I stood up running up to the men. Yes, very foolish. "Let her go!" I screamed suddenly trying to pry Riley out of their arms.

"Listen, either you let us take her or we take you with her! Understand?!" The taller man yelled.

"Then, guess you're taking me with her." I kicked the Mans shin. It barely made him budge. The man next to him grabbed me and stuck something in my mouth that immediately knocked me out.

Riley's POV.

I opened up my eyes slowly, I was utterly confused as to where I was. I felt huge arms holding me up. I looked to my right to see Maya. Then, everything started coming back. I was kidnapped, and apparently so was Maya. I could barely think straight with my head pounding, but I wasn't going to do anything rash. I'm going to listen to what the men say so we don't die.

The man put me down on the floor and tied my arms to a pole. As he did that he looked at me.

"I'm going to take that thing out of your mouth. You scream, or yell its going back in and there will be consequences for your actions." The man flicked my forehead. I nodded slowly. I was scared for my life. He slowly took it out.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked in a low tone.

"Listen, dearie. We were hired by two individuals and I'd rather not say their names."

Maya's POV

"Carla and Renee." I suddenly said as I woke up with nothing in my mouth.

The men shared a questioning glance. "How did you know?" The men asked in unison.

"They have been making my life a living hell for years. Now they kidnap my best friend?" I shook my head. "Just let her go and kill me. I don't care anymore."

"We have strict orders not to do that.. Yet.." The men smirked walking away.
Leaving me and Riley tied up.

"I'm sorry." I looked over at Riley.

"Don't worry. It's not your fault." Riley smiled. Even, at a time like this she still smiles.

"Yes it is. If I never got involved with them this wouldn't of happened! You would still be happy! I would still be happy! Just when does it end?!" Before I knew it tears were streaming down my face.

"Maya. We will get through this.." She grabbed my hand. "Thunder, Lighting.."

"Forever." I smiled.
