Debt To Pay

Alice looked at herself in the mirror scanning herself closely as if she was trying to understand why she was in the situation that called for possible prison sentence. Her blue eyes looked at the towel she had neatly wrapped around herself and then towards her wet brunette hair which was slightly past her shoulder blades feeling water drip from the ends and down her back. She noticed a few bruises which she could only assume was from all the violence she had been in the entire year so far caused by Jerome. She had a debt to pay because of him, and she had the suspicion that he planned to bring her into all of this the whole time as a backup plan if things failed with killing Bruce. She glared at herself in the mirror and spoke in a whisper as if she was hesitant to say what she was thinking out loud.

"You've been working at Arkham for 3 months now. Sure you may be a wanted woman for doing this, but you do owe him for saving you. You were promoted to his section so this means it's time to think of a plan." She sighs softly and walks into her room grabbing a pair of jeans and a sweater. After getting dressed she throws her hair messily into a low bun. She makes her way to Arkham once more feeling thoughts rush through her head.

"Come here pretty lady! Spend time with a real man!" A man yelled through the bars causing the female to ignore him and continue to walk with her superior.

"Alice I'm impressed by your ability to handle inmates. Now that we know what you're capable of we are proud to have you working with Class A criminals." The elderly man smiled at the female causing his skin to wrinkle more. She smiles in return and glanced around seeing the section change and steel doors were present in place of the cell doors. "Don't let this place intimidate you. They can't get through these doors." The elderly man forced a laugh and walked up to a heavy set woman who seemed to glare at Alice. "This is Kate Ashton. You will address her as Captain Ash. She will be your superior so please listen to her." He left the two women and Alice turned to the woman with a smile holding out her hand.

"I'm looking forward to working with you Captain Ash." The woman glanced at Alice's hand and turned to walk away.

"Your charms and good looks might work on the chairman, but it will not work on me." She said venomously causing the girl to follow and narrow her eyes watching the woman closely.

"Well I'm pleased you find me charming and good looking." She said sarcastically stopping in her tracks noticing the woman snap her head towards the girl.

"I will not tolerate such insolent behaviour. You will treat me like god in here understand? I can easily have you fired." She kept walking and the girl sighed softly remaining quiet until the heavier woman spoke again.  "This is officer Daniels and you will be working with him as an apprentice until you're capable of holding your own. Officer Daniels this is officer Kaiser." She motions to Alice who nods slightly with a smile seeing the young man return it.

"Hello Officer Kaiser. It will be a pleasure working with you." The man seemed nervous as he extended his hand out towards the female who quickly shook his hand with confidence.

"Pleasure is all mine." She turns and notices the heavier woman was gone causing her to retract her hand confused. "Where did she...?"

"Yeah she moves fast. She sneaks up on me all the time." Officer Daniels smiles at her and she laughs softly. "Has anyone ever told you that you have a beautiful laugh?" He laughs nervously.

"Actually kind of." She smiles and the man stares at her causing her to furrow her eyebrows keeping her smile. "So who are our patients?"

"Oh yeah!" He grabs his clipboard which hung from his belt and laughed once more. "You mean criminals?" He chuckled hearing the girl force a laugh and agree. "We have..." He spoke names that Alice didn't know and she sighs softly hearing the crimes they commit. "Last but not least Jerome Valeska. Charged with multiple murders and kidnappings." He said causing the girl to look at the man once more instantly remembering him from her visit with Jerome. If he had recognized her the plan to bust the red head out would most definitely be compromised.
