tyler wakes to rapid, loud knocking on his door.

he stays in bed, thinking it will stop, but it never does.

with a groan he gets up, his stomping feet making their way to the door.

upon hearing his footsteps, the knocking stops, just as tyler nears the door.

he opens it, only for there to be nobody on the other side.

tyler starts to growl, before he notices an envelope, with a white rose rested atop, resting neatly at his feet, with his name stamped neatly across the top.

glaring at it in confusion, tyler picks it up, heading to his kitchen island to read it.

he opens it carefully, unsure of what's inside.

a neatly folded square of cardstock sits inside of it, neat writing stamped across,

my love, i was planning on giving you my leftover flowers from last week, but i seem to have misplaced them. if you don't mind the walk, i have some clues placed about as to where they may be, so hop to it, my love, the fun has begun. find your next clue where bathing is done.

with a blush prominent on his cheeks, tyler shakes his head with a fond smile,

"oh, joshua," he mumbles, as he makes his way toward his en-suite.

in his porcelain tub, another letter lay, a white rose with slight pink tint along with it. marked nicely with clue #1

tyler opens it up, a smile stuck on his face,

well done, my love, that wasn't very hard, to find your next clue, check the spot for mail and cards.

grumbling something about not wanting to put pants on, tyler gets dressed, grabs his keys and phone, and heads out the door.

in the mail room, tyler finds his mailbox with the new addition of a pink heart sticker.

smiling, tyler opens it up, finding another clue labelled clue #2, with a rose adorning a pink ombre affect.

you're doing great, love, but this one might be tricky. hidden in a rubber tree, is where you will find clue #3

tyler furrows his brows, how is that tricky? he is clearly talking about the fake plant in tyler's hallway.

walking back up the stairs, tyler stops in the hallway, a couple doors down from his home, bending down near the fake plant. all the other plants in the building were real, but this one? for an odd reason, the one in the left wing of tyler's hall, is fake.

he searches the entire plant, inside out, but he can't find the letter.

walking back downstairs, tyler is already tired. what other plants are fake?

walking through the lobby, while tyler is passing the garden, he notices a letter resting above a plaque. intrigued, he steps closer to read it,

hevea brasiliensis:

hevea brasiliensis, the pará rubber tree, sharinga tree, seringueira, or, most commonly, the rubber tree or rubber plant, is a tree belonging to the family euphorbiaceae.

shaking his head with a smile, tyler picks up the card labelled clue #3, as well as a pink rose, with slight white.

did i get you, love? i sure hope so. now, in a place where sparkles once shone, a young man named joshua stands alone. care to change that?

smiling oh, so wide, tyler makes his way toward the children's park that he and joshua played with sparklers at.

tyler takes his time to admire the flowers. he was never one to receive romantic attention, but he thinks he likes it.

entering the park, joshua is there, leaning against a post, with a letter taped to his chest and a single pink rose in hand.

josh smiles warmly, before gesturing to the letter on his chest,

with a giggle, tyler opens it,

my love, i see you've made it, isn't that great? now, would you like to accompany me on a date?

josh hands tyler the rose, a small smile on his face.

with a sigh and some newfound confidence, tyler wraps his arms around joshua's neck with an over-exaggerated sigh,

"oh, joshua,"

"you're sweet, attractive, and funny; that much is so. but, it has only been a week, my answer is still no," he finishes, with a kiss to joshua's cheek.

wrapping his arm's around tyler's waist, pulling him in close, joshua groans,

"dammit," he shrugs, "it was worth a try," he says, pushing his face into tyler's soft hair.

pulling away from the embrace, tyler tilts his head at joshua,

"will you ever stop trying?"

with a smile larger than ever,

"nope,"
