She walked the street to the bar she knew he would be at, it all felt familiar and that she hadn't had left. She had walked it just a few months before wishing that week would never end. But everything came to a skidding halt just a few days before that moment. The world she knew came crashing down but he still remained. The stranger that wasn't just any stranger to her; he took the time to get to know her in the short time she was there in that bar. And he could sing to that whole crowd and she felt as if it was just to her.
The music became louder as her feet carried her closer to the entrance of that small, but famous bar on the strip in Nashville. His voice was smooth as she neared even closer and stood outside enough to catch a good glimpse of him as he sung his heart out. She genuinely smiled listening to the way the words just flowed from his lips. When the song was over, she slowly made her way into the bar she kept her back to him until she found a spot about half way back but in full view of his sight.
As she turned the music that had begun to play stopped. She looked up to see him staring right at her with his amazing smile. He very pale, icy blue eyes fixated on her. "So before I start this next song, I just have to say something," he paused taking his guitar off and taking the microphone in both hands while in the stand, "I am a very private person. I usually don't get all too familiar with girls that come into this bar and swoon over me, but there was this one girl that I swooned over her but she wasn't having it. I tried my best lines ya'll and she still shut me down." He stopped and smiled as the patrons of the bar booed and looked around trying to see what had brought this speech on.
"You see ya'll, I became friends with this girl. Listened as she rambled about her life and her dreams, but there was this one problem. She was only here for a few days. A wonderful Wisconsin girl had stolen my heart and took it back with her and to the life she had up there, which included a boyfriend." Again the crowd booed and awed as she looked away but looked back at him. She took him all in, even adding that he was on stage, his 6'4 stance was intimidating. His cowboy hat hid his hair but she knew it was still in his Marine cut.
People around her whispered as the man spoke, wondering who this mystery girl could be. "I may be older, but this girl has a mature soul, and a good heart. She wouldn't hurt the man she was with so she left us as friends when I wanted more ya'll. I wanted so much more. There was a part in our conversation though when she was telling me about her past and now she was scarred that she mentioned if anything went wrong with her relationship she had at that time, I would see her again. Well ya'll she just walked through that door." The whole place went up in whoops and hollers as she just continued to stare at him.
He knew she didn't like being in attention and people were starting to look at her. "This girl is everything a guy could hope for." He spoke as his smile began to fade. Her stance slightly stiffened as he stumbled and swayed. She was on her feet before she realized what she was doing. His eyes were on her as she pushed her way too him. His face was white as she neared him and the guy behind him helped him to sit on the edge of the stage. His knuckles were white as he tried to keep his grip on the lip to stay upright.
"What's wrong?" Her voice made his heart jumped which caused his face to harden with pain and she took his cheek in her hand.
"Hi, beautiful." He tried to smile.
"Hi. What's wrong?" She asked again.
"My legs went numb and shaky. I really can't feel 'em now. You took my breath away." He tried to joke again. As he coughed like he couldn't get enough air.
